Harley walked down the streets of Arkham, she wanted to walk to the asylum today. She needed to think. She had done some research when she was told she got the job and had heard awful things about the Joker. As nervous as she was, she was also excited. Harley had never had such an... "interesting" patient. She looked at the people around her. A man, he looked to be around 40, was walking across the street from her. He was wearing a long dark coat and a suit underneath. Plus the fedora to top it all off. She grinned a little bit when she imagined him as an undercover spy; fighting crime and using shoes as weapons or something. She almost laughed, but then realized how strange it would make her look, and bit the inside of her cheek. The man turned a corner, and she was left alone. Harley looked at the houses around her, they looked old and run down. There she saw an old woman watering some pink flowers on her lawn. Harley smiled. The flowers lit up the street, seemed to bring life to it.

Finally she reached the asylum. There was a long, hilly, steep road she needed to walk up before she reached the door. She sighed,
"Time to walk up a mountain of road," she thought. When she finally reached the gate, she decided there would be no more walking to work. She stopped to take a breath and took in her surroundings. There was a huge gate that said "Arkham Asylum" spelled on it. The entire fence was extremely overgrown. There was a watchtower in the distance and bricks everywhere. They made up the entire fence and the watchtower. There was a stone path that lead to the main entrance of the building.

She slid her card key that unlocked the door into the slot. It had to be with her at all times. Harley entered and was instantly greeted by a woman.

"Hello Ms. Quinzel, welcome. My name is Olivia Nightingale and I will be assisting you today. Now, allow me to show you around."

"Alright, nice to meet you Ms. Nightingale."

The two walked down a long corridor. It wasn't nearly as creepy as Harley had imagined it. There were a few fake plants here and there and the cells had glass walls, the unbreakable kind. Inside the cells were a bed with white sheets, a birch wood bedside table, and a birch wood desk on one side. This was an asylum for the criminal minds, so it was very secure, the cells also had toilets in them in a corner with no glass so the patients could have their privacy. There were tons of patients there who were injured, she guessed they had attempted to fight a super hero or something. After being led through the long hall of cells, Harley was lead to a staff room for a quick break.

"So how long have you worked here Olivia?" asked Harley.

"Well, I have worked here for years, Harleen."

"You can call me Harley, everyone does."

"Noted," Oliva smiled. She had long dark hair and wore big, square, black glasses. Her eyes were dark brown, almost black. She was a bit shorter than Harley and definitely had darker skin than her. She was quite tan compared to Harley. Harley had similar glasses though. She was tall and had short, almost bleached blonde hair. She had blue eyes and loved a pretty red lipstick. Harley smiled at Olivia.

"Okay, break time is over, I am going to show you a few more rooms and then you will meet your patient."

"Can you tell me about him, I want to know a bit about him before I meet him," Harley requested.

"We don't know much about him, he doesn't talk much, not anymore. That is your job, to learn about him and try to get him to talk to you." explained Olivia.

"What do you mean, not anymore,"

"He used to be pretty talkative that's all, he hasn't been here more than a month, but we hope he isn't planning some crazy scheme."

"Oh, okay well I will do my best to try to get him to open up more." Harley smiled and had a determined look on her face. She was up for the challenge.

"Shall we continue with the tour?" asked Olivia.

"Alright,"

Harley and Olivia walked down a set of stairs, they reached a room, there was a bed in the middle of it and a chair next to the bed. Harley knew what the room was for. It was the room where you took your patient to try and talk to them about things. Try to help them. It was kind of a dark room, the walls were a very dark blue, and there was barley any lighting. They continued down the hall until they reached an area to shower, they had to keep the patients clean.

...

Finally there was about an hour left in Harley's day and she was able to meet the joker. Olivia took her down the long hall she had seen earlier that morning until they reached a cell that had the name "Joker" on it.

"Hi, my name is Harleen Quinzel, I will be your new therapist." She smiled at him. The Joker stood up, he walked towards the glass to get a better look at her. He smiled at her with an evil look in his eyes.

"You know, I especially like your name... Harley Quinzel, rework it a bit, and you get-"

"Harlequin, the clown character, I know I've heard it before." Harley cut off what Joker was saying.

"That's the kind of name that puts a smile on my face, makes me feel like there's someone I can relate to. Someone who'd like to hear my secrets."

Harley walked away. She and Olivia had said nothing for a few minutes.

"He hasn't said a word since the day he got here, how did you get him to talk without saying more than two sentences?" Olivia was shocked.

"I don't know, he liked my name, maybe that had something to do with it," Harley was just as puzzled as Oliva. The two checked out of the Asylum and got ready to go home.

"Want a ride, I saw you walking this morning."

"No thanks, Olivia, I want to think about my plans for tomorrow, I am more curious than ever to 'hear his secrets.'" Replied Harley.

"Alright, see you tomorrow, Harley."

"See you!" Harley smiled and got out of the way for Olivia to leave the parking lot. She spent the entire walk home, and almost all night thinking of the Joker and his secrets. He had barley said anything to her, but apparently hadn't talked at all in weeks. The things he said, were shocking, they seemed to play tricks on Harley's mind. She wanted to know more about him. Harley stayed up all night long, learning about the Joker. When she finally got to sleep, she realized she wouldn't get much of it because it was almost time for her alarm clock to go off. She sighed,

"An hour is better than nothing."

What Harley didn't know was that she was in for a crazy ride, one that would completely change her. Forever.
