A Surprise *Switzerland*

You sat nervously in the lounge chair, eyes flicking to a certain Swiss man. You tried relaxing and having fun- it is your birthday party- but found that you can't. You're just too nervous. You understood that you can't always believe what you hear, but this is something you can't help but be curious about; a proposal might take place today! And not just anyone's proposal, but yours. It took a while for your now long time boyfriend, Vash, to even ask you out, but after he did, you both just hit it off. Now it seems he might take the next step! You were broken out of your thoughts, when America placed all of your presents of the day, around the chair you were sitting in. "(Name), it's time to open up the presents!" Everyone nodded their heads as they sat down around you. Normally you weren't one to open presents during the party, but if everyone seemed so willing... You grinned, and shouted, "Alright!" All thoughts about the proposal pushed farther into your mind as you started ripping open the presents.

After a bunch of ripped paper and squealing over all of the glamorous gifts, (Except for England's. He tried to bake you cookies.) it came down to the last one. Vash's present. He placed it into the palm of your hand, and then took a few steps back. You didn't notice, however, as you were too busy examining it's perfect wrapping, and it's size. It looked a little bit bigger than a regular ring box, but maybe he is trying to trick you. Or maybe he decided to not be cheap on your ring and went all out on the diamond. You carefully peeled off the paper, and peered inside. You almost forgot how long you were staring, until some of the countries started to clear their throats or ask if you are okay. You force a small smile onto your lips. "Thank you, Vash. For the soap."

The rest of the party was a blur, as you just thought about how your lovely boyfriend had bought you a single thing of Dove body soap. You could care less- well, no, you did care, that it wasn't a wedding ring, but the worse thing was that it was barely a present! You expected that kind of gift from someone who barely knew you, but from Vash? Never. You were glad when the party was finally over and the last of the countries had left. All, except for Switzerland. You hardly glanced at him as you cleaned up the wrappers and party cups. He stared at you a whole lot, though.

"Can I help you with something, Vash? Need to borrow some soap?" You ask, a bit too hostile for even your own liking.

Vash averted his eyes for the moment, and muttered something unintelligible. You just snapped. "Leave." Vash looked at you, shocked. "You heard me. Leave!" You proceeded to take the bar of soap he gave you and chuck it at him, to get him to rush towards the door. As soon as he left, you felt horrible. You walk over to the mess of the creamy bar, and begin to pick up the small pieces, when something shiny seemed to be caught in a larger chunk. You rush to the sink and rinse the soap off, revealing a beautiful wedding ring. The band was made of silver, and the diamond looked expensive. You rushed back to the soapy mess, and searched around some more. On a tiny slip of paper, a bit sticky from the soap, read in Vash's handwriting,(Name), will you marry me? You felt a few tears leak from your eyes, feeling even worse about yelling at Vash. You were so into your thoughts that you didn't hear the Swiss man open the door and kneel next to you.

"(Name)... please stop crying." His voice was soft too your ears, a bit out of his character, but it still seemed to fit him. You instantly hug him and mutter out a million apologies. Vash just shook his head and took the ring from you, only to slip it onto your ring finger. "So, (Name), will you marry me?"

"Of course." You mutter as you proceed to press your lips against his.

Sometimes, even the thoughtless of gifts, have the biggest surprises.
