A letter for her well that was unusual.
But then it hit her, she actually was expecting a letter. How could she even forget about it.
"Hello are you going to sign it today?" The postman was annoyed. She grabbed the pen and signed the paper he was holding out for her and closed the door behind her.
She knew what it was, still didn't know what to expect. She crossed her fingers and opened the letter.
"God Please" she muttered and then read.
It was a letter from the New Orchard School of Arts saying that she was given a scholarship for a two year program.
Hannah couldn't believe her eyes. She was ecstatic. What an opportunity she would finally be living a dream and to top that off her best friend Julia was going to be with her who was studying there since last year.
Reading the letter one last time to assure herself she hugged it and then thought of breaking the news to her mother.
Mrs Adams was never overly excited about all this Arts school idea she always wanted her daughter to have a "real job" as she used to call it. But she gave in seeing how talented and passionate her daughter was and allowed Hannah to apply for arts school. She knew from her portfolio that her daughter was definitely going to be accepted.
Hannah came running to the kitchen. "Mom you wont believe it" She couldn't control her emotions. There was something in her voice that her mom turned towards her "did you get accepted"
How did she do that Hannah would never figure out. "Not only accepted I am offered a scholarship"
"Ohh darling that's amazing" her mom was saying between hugs and kisses.
Ana her six year old sister was standing at the door smiling "Yayyy you did it" she said.
"Ana I am so happy" Hannah was jumping. "Of course you are look at your face"
Ana said turning her sister's shoulders towards the full length mirror fixated on the wall of the corridor along the open kitchen.
She turned to study herself. She was looking at the image of a 16 year old girl with a pale complexion but sharp patrician features, plump lips and intelligent, anxious brown eyes which were right now beaming. There was a quiet elegance about her, a subtle attractiveness. Her dark brown hair fell softly to her shoulders.
She never thought she was beautiful she never believed people who told her otherwise. Like Julia.
"Ohh Julia" she came out of her thoughts. "I have to call her and give her the news" She literally hopped towards the telephone and dialled.
