Two days later, Connie had felt well enough to leave her bed and sit on the sofa; Charlie had gone to work upon her insistance so it left her and Grace watching films. They were currently on the second Twilight film when Connie's mobile rang; seeing her mom was dozing, Grace answered when she saw it was Zoe calling.

"Hi Aunt Zoe"

"Hi Grace, where's your mom?"

"Asleep on the sofa"

"Is she okay?"

"I think so; she's been sleeping loads. Uncle Charlie said its normal but..."

"I'm on my way to check her over; try not to worry, okay?"

"Okay" she said as she hung up.

Twenty minutes later, Zoe arrived and entered the living room as Connie awoke and sat up slightly.

"How you doing? You should still be resting in bed" Zoe said as she listened to her chest.

"I'm fine" she whispered in exhaustion.

"Your chest sounds a lot clearer but you're still not on the mend yet; you need to be in bed Connie. You need to listen to your body and do what it's telling you to" she said, checking her temperature.

"Gracie, can you get me some water please?" Connie asked her daughter before she left the room. "She's sad and depressed, more than before because i cant do anything"

"And if you dont rest, you'll end up doing more harm than good; i cant force you to do what i suggest but it could lengthen your recovery in the long run. At this stage, i wont be able to sign you as fit to work for September; you'll be lucky to be back before October"

"Here you go mom" Grace smiled as she handed her mom the glass of water before sitting next to her.

"Thanks baby" she coughed before taking a sip. "I will go back to bed in a while; i just needed to get out of them four walls"

"Okay; hey Grace, how about i make you some lunch before i go back to work?" Zoe suggested as Connie put the glass on the side and let her eyes close.

Grace nodded and followed Zoe into the kitchen; preparing them both a pasta salad, they sat up to the table and ate.

"How you doing?" Zoe asked.

"Fine"

"Your mom said you're feeling sad, because she cant go out?"

"She's sick; she cant help it" she shrugged.

"You know she would if she could? She's stubborn and thats why she's sitting on the sofa instead of the bed; she needs to rest and if she does for now, she should be well enough to take you to your appointment at least"

"I know" she sighed.

With their lunch eaten, Zoe headed back to work whilst Grace woke Connie and helped her upstairs; once in the bed, Grace snuggled against her mom with her headphones in and watching a film as Connie slept.
