He had his own special place; a tree on top of a hill that overlooked his whole town. The boy would go there whenever he was feeling overwhelmed about something.

The boy was curled up in a ball  and he held his knees close to his chest while sitting on a long, widened branch in the tree. The endless messages entered his mind and refused to go away. "No one likes you!", "You should just die!", "No one would miss you if you disappeared!", and so on. These things were all said by his wretched classmates, and the thing that hurt most was that he had no idea why they were saying these things. He had never done anything to them, and yet they treated him like a savaged beast. Something struck deeply inside him, and as soon as a single tear produced from his eyes, they wouldn't stop coming out.
He sobbed uncontrollably, but made sure he wasn't making too much of a loud sound.

Suddenly, a voice came out from underneath the tree. "Hey, you can't be up there, loser," said the voice.
The boy looked down from the tree and spotted a boy standing underneath the tree. He had black, Raven-like hair and a blue shirt on. He had a smug attitude and was crossing his arms. The boy up in the tree wiped his eyes quickly.

"Wh-Why can't I be up here?" he asked shyly. "Because I already marked this tree. My name's already up there." The smug kid pointed at a branch underneath the boy in the tree.

The boy in the tree placed his foot on a heavy branch, and held tightly onto the branch that had the other kids' name carved into it so that he wouldn't fall off of the tree. He read it and looked down at the kid standing underneath him.  "Sasuke? Is that you?" Sasuke, the smug kid, nodded, and began to climb up the tree. "Since my name is on this, that means it's mine. So get the hell off, dweeb." Sasuke ordered.

The boy in the tree grit his teeth and snatched a kunai, a Japanese dagger, out of the small bag attached to his waist. "Two can play it that game!" He shouted as he fiercely struck the long trunk of the tree with his kunai, and started carving his name into it. "Hey! You can't do that, idiot! I was the first one to carve my name on here anyway!" Sasuke said while climbing up to the branch. "I. Don't. Care!" He said cunningly while finishing up his name.
Sasuke finally reached the branch and looked at the carved name. "Naruto? That's a dumb name. Anyway, you're an idiot. Get the hell off of my tree, usuratonkachi," Sasuke ordered. "I've never even seen you around this town. You can't just claim a tree for yourself!" Naruto said while Sasuke glared at him. "I moved here a few days ago and found this tree, so I made it mine," Sasuke explained. "Well that's nice, but I've been coming here for the past year so technically it's mine more so than yours."
"The hell do you even come here for?" Sasuke asked.
"This tree is my thinking spot. I just come here when I'm feeling troubled," Naruto said while looking at the town.
Sasuke stuck his head up to face Naruto and placed his hand on Naruto's head.

Naruto's eyes widened when Sasuke began stroking his blonde hair. "Wh-what the hell are you doing?!" Naruto asked as his face gradually turned red. "Hmm. So that's what your hair feels like. It's a lot softer than it looks," Sasuke said while ignoring Naruto. He grabbed Sasuke's arm and pulled it away from his hair. "G-go away you creep!" Naruto said embarrassed. "You need to chill. There's nothing embarrassing about having your hair touched, much less by a dude," Sasuke said. "That is, unless you're gay or something."

Naruto blushed and yelled, "I-I'm not gay! I-I like girls!"
Sasuke turned towards the direction of the town and whispered quietly to Naruto, "So what's troubling you?"
Naruto looked at Sasuke and tapped his finger against the rough tree branch.

Why should he tell this rude person what's wrong? Besides, Sasuke was making fun of him just a few minutes before, Naruto thought.

"People are bullying me at school and I don't know why." Naruto blurted out on accident. Sasuke looked at Naruto as he clenched his mouth tightly. After a short pause, Sasuke cracked his knuckles. "It's probably because you're such a dobe. You should stand up for yourself." Sasuke replied. Without saying a word, Naruto stood up on the branch and roared like a lion down on the town. He then sat back down and caught his breath as his loud roar echoed throughout the whole town.

Sasuke laughed quietly and leaned against Naruto's shoulder. Naruto blushed and looked over at Sasuke in confusion. "Wh-what are you doing, Sasuke?!" Naruto asked while trying to push Sasuke off of him. Sasuke wrapped his arms tightly around Naruto's waist and dropped his head gently on Naruto's lap. "I need to sleep because I'm tired, so be my pillow for a while, ok?" Sasuke said calmly. Naruto's face turned redder and he cleared his throat. "N-no! It's not okay! B-Besides, sleeping in a tree is dangerous!" Naruto said embarrassed. Sasuke turned his body and looked into Naruto's shiny blue eyes and smirked, "No worries. I'm totally safe up here with you next to me."

"A-are you serious?! Y-you accuse me of being gay, th-then do this?!" Naruto said angrily. "I never accused you of being gay, you moron. If you hate this so much then just leave." Sasuke looked at Naruto expecting him to finally leave. Naruto calmed down and averted his eyes from Sasuke. He scratched his hair and leaned his back against the trunk of the tree.
"What? You're not leaving?" Sasuke asked. "I-if I left then you'd probably fall off the tree and die or something a-and then I'd get sued!" Naruto said defensively. Sasuke gazed into Naruto's blue eyes for a bit, and then sat up again while laughing his butt off. "Wh-what's so funny?" Naruto asked still blushing. Sasuke laughed so hard that tears began to fall out of his eyes. He began rubbing Naruto's head again while slowly calming down. "Oh Naruto, you're so interesting. I kinda understand why people bully you," Sasuke said.

Naruto got angry and crossed his arms in frustration. Sasuke wrapped his arm around Naruto's shoulder and poked his nose. "I'm just joking, baka." Sasuke looked closer at Naruto's face. "Hey, your face is as red as a tomato. I love tomatoes!" He said excitedly. Naruto looked away and didn't reply. "Hey, how come you drew whiskers on your face?" Sasuke asked while trying to rub Naruto's whiskers off his face. "S-stop that! It won't come off!! I was born with these whiskers, I don't know why I have them!" Naruto explained while trying to shove Sasuke off him. "That's a weird birthmark," Sasuke commented while inspecting them closely.

"Y-you're way too close, Sasuke!" Naruto yelled while blushing.

After a while, Sasuke checked his watch, and his pupils shrunk within seconds. "Oh jeez. I didn't realize it got so late! I gotta go or else my Mom is gonna get mad!" Sasuke said.

"Oh. you should probably go then." Naruto said. "Mhm. Maybe we'll see each other again soon," Sasuke said while climbing down the tree.
When he reached the bottom, he looked up at Naruto and struck his fist in the air. "Don't forget to stand up for yourself, usuratonkachi!" He yelled.

Naruto watched as Sasuke got further and further away from the tree. "His mom is waiting for him, huh? That must be nice," Naruto whispered to himself.
