Soul Mates (On Hiatus)

Chapter 11

Robin, Aqualad, Reaper, and Phantom had just gotten there when they saw KF start dangling out one of the windows.
"Does he always run ahead?" Aqualad questioned Robin. When he heard the ghost teens laugh he looked over to see that he too was gone. Robin's signature cackle rang out as he ran across the roof top and skillfully jumped into the window Kid Flash was dangling out of, hoisting him up right after.
"I think I missed that part of the plan." Reaper said in an amused tone. Phantom chuckled at Aqualad's exasperated eye roll.
He ran forward with the ghosts following close behind him. The eel tattoos on his arms lit up a bright blue as he used his magic to borrow water from the fire truck's hose and get the scientists down from the roof. Reaper and Phantom just flew into the building where Robin and KF were.
"Hey, you left us in the dust back there." Phantom said, walking over to the duo with Reaper.
"Sorry, we thought you were right behind us." Kid said nonchalantly. Aqualad came in not even a minute after Phantom and Reaper with a scowl.
"Thanks for the help." He said coldly.
"Hey, you could've asked us for help when we passed you." Reaper said sharply. He just sighed as Robin furrowed his brow.
"That can't be right..." He trailed off as Aqualad left the room. He froze when he saw a creature with curved horns on its head through the closing elevator door.
Robin and the rest of the 'team' ran out of the room they were in toward the elevator along with Aqualad who wanted to know what it was he saw.
Reaper easily opened the doors of the elevator and looked down, shocked that the building had such an extensive underground.
"Damn..." He whispered. The whisper echoed down into the long, long elevator shaft.
"That's what I thought." Robin started. "You don't need an express elevator in a two story building." He jumped down and used his grapple gun to go down safely.
Phantom and Reaper started to float down while Aqualad and Kid Flash slid down the rope.
At the 27th floor the rope stopped.
"I'm at the end of my rope." Robin stated before swinging onto the metal bar that ran around the vertical tunnel every twenty feet. Reaper and Phantom just gave them deadpan expressions.
"We could just float you down." Reaper said as he and Phantom landed near KF.
"Yeah, well, we're here now so might as well look around." The boy wonder replied. They sighed and grabbed the team before turning them intangible and going through the elevator door.
All three of the other heroes shook their heads, feeling slightly dizzy at the sensation of going intangible.
Phantom winced, "Sorry, should've warned you first."
"It is alright. It got us through the door. That is what matters." Aqualad replied.
"Yeah, but a warning would be nice." Kid chimed in.
Reaper and Phantom just nodded in understanding. Then, Kid decided to run ahead and almost got squished by what looked like a very, very, very big mutated elephant.
The black haired ghost flew to him and tackled the speedster out of the way.
"Okay, that was too close." Reaper said as he got off of his friend and helped him up.
Robin walked up and scowled at KF (his 'secret' boyfriend (Batman already knows because he's Batman.))before looking around and saying, "Welcome to Project Cadmus." AN. Birdflash forever!!!!! 😊
The teens ran down a nearby hallway to take a look around and found a bunch of little creatures in tubes. They looked like they were creating electricity.
"So that's how they stayed hidden. They're making their own electricity!" Kid Flash exclaimed.
Robin started hacking the computer and found information on the beings inside of the tubes.
"They're called Geomorphs. All of them have different powers. Telepathy, sharp claws...what's project Kr and...project Lupo?"
Before anyone could say anything Guardian, another hero, burst into the room, "Halt!" He paused when he saw them. He only saw Robin, Aqualad, and Kid Flash. Danny and Phantom had turned invisible.
"We'll be with you all the time. He doesn't know about us so we'll be your back up." Phantom whispered to them. They each gave slight nods at that.
Aqualad stepped up right after, "You. I know you. You're Guardian! A hero."
He looked flattered, "Nice to know that my exploits were noticed, but you shouldn't be here."
That's when Kid stepped up, "So much for being a hero! You're helping them create living weapons!"
"Weapons?" Guardian looked genuinely confused. Then, he cluched his head.
"What? What have I-? Gah!" The hero shook his head when the little goblin-like geomorph's horns started glowing red.
Guardian glared at the heroes and shouted, "Get them!"
The geomorphs that were standing behind him started attacking. Robin unplugged his hologlove from the computer and threw down a smoke pellet. Reaper and Phantom took that as their cue to reappear and start taking out the genetic experiments.
In the confusion, they were all able to escape and get to the elevator. Wasting no time to warn their team, the two ghost teens phased them through the door and into the, thankfully empty, elevator.
"Dude!" Wally shouted.
"Sorry! Didn't have enough time for a warning!" Phantom defended. Robin shook his head and hacked into the elevator so that it would take them down level 52.
"Um, Rob, out is up." Kid said uneasily.
"Project Kr and Lupo are down on level 52." He explained.
"We are in too deep. We must contact the League." Aqualad said calmly. The other sidekicks nodded while Phantom and Reaper grumbled about spoiled sports and kill joys.
They and Lloyd tapped their com links only to find that they didn't work.
"We're too far underground." Aqualad observed. The ghost teens almost smiled at the thought of getting back into hero action again, but refrained.
The other heroes might not appreciate their enthusiasm.
"Well, no turning back now." Reaper said, careful to keep the excitement out of his voice.

"Yeah, let's go." Robin said as the door opened. They were greeted by a bunch of geomorphs.
"Awesome! A party!" Reaper said excitedly. On that note, they started fighting their way through the geomorphs. The door for project Kr and Lupo was closing, but KF ran ahead and stopped it from closing with a piece of metal.
"Come on!" The ghost boys shot a few more blasts before flying toward their team, picking Robin and Aqualad up and slipping through the door. Phantom then kicked the piece of metal out of the door and it slammed shut.
Robin quickly hacked into it and the door locked.
"We're safe. For now."
"We need a new plan." Aqualad said, his stoic expression not wavering.
"Well, we could ask them for help." Phantom said, pointing to the capsules.
In one, there was what looked like a 16 year old boy with black hair, and tan skin wearing all white with the Superman's symbol on his chest.
In the other, there was a girl with pale skin, freckles dusted over her nose, bleach blonde hair, and wearing all black.
The heroes stared for a moment before Aqualad said, "Robin. Hack." The boy wonder did so with no protest.
"Project Kr, the atomic symbol for Krypton!" The red head said with slight excitement.
The raven haired 13 year old nodded, "Yeah...okay, Project Kr aka Super Boy. Super Boy is a clone force grown in...Wow! 16 weeks!" He paused, reading more, "The geomorphs are force feeding them an education. The girl seems to be getting more complex stuff though... Super Boy is meant to either take Superman's place, or terminate him."
"Anything else about her?" Aqualad pressed.
Reaper and Phantom looked at the two with sad expressions, they had to get them out of there.
"Um...Project Lupo aka Fire Wolf, it says here that she is the product of genetic splicing. She has elemental powers because of the splicing. Their's also...wolf blood? How is that possible...unless..." He started typing faster.
"She can change into a wolf. Kinda like a werewolf."
"Woah! That sounds really cool." (AN. You can guess who said that.)
"Guys, she was made to take down or neutralize all heroes." A sullen silence enveloped the room at that. The ghost teens were as tense as bow strings about to snap as they looked at the two teens.
Their team leader at the moment looked at them with pity in his eyes, "They do not deserve this. Robin, set them free." He nodded and opened their capsules. After a moment, their eyes opened. Super Boy's eyes were a colbolt blue like Superman's while Fire Wolf's were a bright green. SO took one look at the heroes at attacked, like the geomorphs told him to do.
Meanwhile, Fire stepped out of her capsule and got into a fighting stance. Her eyes turned red as fire crawled up her legs. Her human feet were replaced by paws, fur cascaded up her body while a tail poked through the hole in the back of her suit. Fire's nails grew out and turned gold while her teeth sharpened and her human ears turned into wolf ears. The ends of her bleach blonde hair fizzled and turned to ash, jagged dark red hair with yellow and orange highlights taking it's place. The change was quick though as she needed to join the fight.
"Stop! We're on your side!" Robin shouted to Super Boy. The blue eyed boy just growled and lashed out at him with brute strength.
Fire Wolf was facing the two ghost teens with narrowed eyes.
"You don't have to do this..." Reaper started. She snarled and, quick as a viper, she threw a knife made from ice at them. It missed and hit SB instead. They looked confused, but the look she gave them said it all. They turned invisible as she turned her attention to Kid Flash. Fire growled lowly before tripping him on his way toward her. He slammed into a wall, hard. The wolf girl almost winced, almost.
That's when she saw that her partner had taken down the other two heroes. Supes then opened the door with little to no effort. The head scientist (I'm so sorry, I forgot his name!) came in with a smile on his face.
"Good work. Now bring them to the cloning room. After we're finished, get rid of the originals." Fire nodded and grabbed KF, slinging him over her shoulder, while Super Boy took Robin and Aqualad.
Meanwhile, Phantom and Reaper were trying to figure out what to do next.
