Chanyeol's POV
"Lay! Can you help me?" I asked him as soon as I saw him. "Can you help me give some advice to Haeri? She's in a big trouble."
"I'm not good in advicing though," Lay blinked his eyes.
"There's no time to say you can't advice someone. Just give her advices that you think would be helpful. Come here!" I teleported myself. "Here -" I turned around and there's no one surrounding me.
I mentally scolded myself when I remembered Lay couldn't teleport. How can I forgot that. I heave a sigh before teleporting back only to see Lay with confused face.
"Why did you teleport so suddenly?"
"I forgot you can't teleport. Meaning, we have to walk all the way to where Haeri is. Come on," I led the way as he followed behind.
I really couldn't handle Haeri anymore. I don't want to admit this but she's stupid. Even if she is a genius, she's stupid. How can she ignore her problems without even trying to solve any? She's hurting herself and the people around her.
"What's wrong with Haeri?" Lay asked on our way to Haeri.
"She's being possessed," I said in a not-so-serious tone.
"What? How did -"
"I was just kidding. She's not being herself these days," I answered. "She's hurting everybody. Now, she's with Tao."
"What?!" His voice getting louder instantly by the mention of Tao.
"I know, I know. Tao is not that evil. He's - okay," I said. "Let's just get to her first."
Soon, we reached at her house. Of course she's at home. Where else could she be when she's with Tao? Someone that couldn't be seen with others. She might be thought crazy if she were to be out, talking to someone invisible.
We climbed upstairs to her room. Upon opening the door, Haeri was sitting at the edge of her bed while facing to the window. Tao was surprisingly nowhere to be seen.
"Haeri?" I called out. She looked back and widen her eyes when she sees Lay beside me.
"What is he doing here?" She stood up.
"I'm here because Chanyeol told me to come," Lay innocently answered. What a nice answer.
"Get out. Both of you, get out," she demanded with her eyes on the floor. It confuses me. She's acting weird.
There was silence after that. I expect Lay to step out first but he never move from where he stood. I thought he's one who listen to every instruction given. It seems like he has something to say but didn't say it right away.
"What are you still doing here?" She asked. "I told you to get out!" She raised her voice.
Despite her being loud, Lay still pretended like nothing just happen. Like he's seeing something normal or something that he had see everyday. The Haeri in front of me isn't the usual Haeri I know. She's never this crazy. The Lay beside me, isn't the Lay that I know. He rarely has a calm expression. He's one who always get blank.
They're all complicated.
"Are you sure?" Lay finally said something after a moment.
And this question seem so affective to Haeri. She was a bit taken aback by the question that she was speechless. Lay, as usual, show nothing on his face. He's neutral.
"Are you sure you want us to leave?" It feels like he's pushing her to think. To answer. Which make me feel bad. But I know, it's for the best too.
Haeri heave a sigh. "Don't."
Wow. How did he do that? She wanted us to go but then when asked for confirmation, she said don't? - Unbelievable!
"I'm sorry. I don't know what had gotten to me - like seriously. What was I even thinking?" She covered her face with her palms.
"Chanyeol, if you can excuse us for a moment?" Lay asked.
"Sure!" I exclaimed then teleported away.
I was teleporting myself to downstairs at the living room. Surprisingly, I was greet by Tao. I shrieked for a moment before taking a deep breath to gain back my composure.
"Chanyeol, I have bad feelings," Tao placed his hand on his chest.
"You always have bad feelings," I rolled my eyes.
"Is Haeri alone?" I shook my head.
"She's with Lay."
"That's a relief," he sighed.
"How can you become a devil when you're like the opposite of their characteristics?" I asked as I observe him.
"I wanted to. I choose to be a devil. You'll experience the same thing. After your day came to an end, you'll get to choose. That's the gift," he explained.
I thought he was destine to be a devil. He told me that. How could he lie?
"But you lied to me so that's common for devil."
"I have to lie to satisfy my character," he nodded. His eyebrows furrowed as his e ye s squinted a bit. "I still feel worry though. Do you know who Lay actually is?"
I looked at him in disbelief. "Are you questioning him now? Seriously? Lay is a great guy. He helped me and Haeri to know that you're not a good people!"
"Am I not good?" He asked and it makes me think.
There was a pause between us. I keep on thinking and thinking. I won't lie but actually I don't know who Lay actually is too. As I played back the memory on our first time seeing each other, there was a mysterious tension by that time.
And now I realized it. Lay is different. He's not like normal or any human.
Let's recall back. That time when Tao was about to push him away for interrupting his task to put Haeri on the wrong path, Lay was all of a sudden untouchable. Tao was suppose to be the one who is powerful than him. He should be able to touch him but he can't.
Lay said that he has a skill which I don't know how he get it. If he can, why can't Haeri? He also know about our rules more than we do. He can see us. He's always there when something happen. He's different.
"I'm going to ask the others if they know what kind of person with power Lay actually is," I excused myself.
"Sure. Tell me when you know everything."
I teleported to Xiumin's house since I remember Sena telling Haeri that she'll be there with the others. Once I was there, I saw that some of them were not here. I looked around and saw Baekhyun at the back of their house.
"Baekhyun!" I called put and he jumped a bit.
"Where are you?" He asked as he looked around.
"That doesn't matter. Just listen and answer my questions," I told him as he nodded. "Do you know Lay?"
"Lay?" He raised an eyebrow. "Who's Lay? I never heard that name before."
"Are you serious?" I widened his eyes.
"Oh," he simply answered with a nod.
"How about you ask Luhan? He should know who Lay is," I suggested then he walked back inside.
"Luhan, do you perhaps know who Lay is?" Baekhyun asked.
"Lay? Is that someone's name? Such a weird name. I don't know who he is. Why you ask?" He raised a brow.
"Just asking," Baekhyun smiled. "You heard that?" He asked with low voice.
"Yeah. Thanks. I gotta go now," I said then teleported back to Haeri's house.
That's odd. I'm pretty sure Luhan know Lay very well too. Lay is his classmate. What had happen?
"Yah," Tao snapped when I was into deep thought. "What did you get?"
"They didn't know who Lay is," I said while my eyes blinked blankly. "It sounded more like Lay never existed to them."
