Prologue

I would like to say I was always the popular, pretty one. The smart, beautiful, talented one. Always surrounded by friends.

But I would be lying.

I have never been pretty, or popular. I'm not talented, though I may be smart. I've never had a boyfriend, but I don't blame them. Very few people want to be seen with me. I've never even had more than one friend.

I am alone, unwanted and the last of my kind. I have no siblings, or even parents. I am adopted, you see. I'll tell you why.

The world I live in, is walked by people who are part animal. our world is unique, and although I haven't had it the easiest, I love it all the same. People don't like me because my animal side is, quite frankly, ridiculous. I am part tortoise.
