Mack~

It has been 72 hours since I learned that my brain is fighting against me. And I cannot sleep no matter how hard I try. So at about five am I decided to take a run. I decided that I would go eat when I was done running so I put 20 dollars in my bra, before sneaking out of Stark Tower. When I got to the street I decided to run to central park. I started to run when I heard foot steps approaching fast from behind me. I turn around and Steve before turning and continuing to run.

Soon enough, Steve catches up to me.
"So," He says," Just decided to come for a morning run or are you really that desperate to get out of the tower." I slow down and start to just walk. Steve slows down as well.
"I can't sleep." I say quietly." It's like every time I close my eyes this image of everyone dying . . . It just won't go away." We turn down an alley and head towards Central Park.
"So I was wrong you just wanted a distraction." I nod," But I thought you had to stay in the tower because of your ankle-" He looks down at my leg and realizes that I am not wearing my ankle bracelet.

"Never get yourself into a prison you can't get out of." I say, smirking. "Stark really should know this by now." We keep walking.

"I'm sorry about all of this. I mean with Phil, and this whole Zola business. I can't imagine you can take a break." I smile.
          "All part of being inhuman."
"Speaking of inhuman, you've always had your powers. But you said you didn't go through metamorphosis like the others." I nod.
"And you want to know how that's possible?" He looks at me and nods. "Well my mom didn't get turned until she was pregnant with me. But, when the crystal takes a hold of you. It isn't just the outside that changes. All of the cells in your body change. And since I was technically, a cell in her body. That meant I was changed too. I never even had the chance to decide whether I wanted to be this . . . this monster." Before Steve can say something, a scream echoes off the walls of the alley. I look at Steve and then we both take off running. The constant screams drive us in the direction of an empty warehouse. We stop at the front and look in a window.
"You go in the front, I'll go in the back." I nod and he runs around the side of the building. I open the warehouse door as quietly as I can. Another scream echoes in the empty building making me even more determined to find the girl.
I head up the stairs and look at the only door in sight. I wiggle my fingers before opening the door and stepping in. I look around before realizing that nobody is here. I step into the room further and the door shuts behind me and I whirl around. But when I turn ice covers the walls. "What?" I ask quietly. I turn back around and there is a little girl sitting in her dad's car. Her dad is on the front porch of an orphanage talking to a lady. That's when I realize that I know what's going on. This is my story. This is where I was given up.

I walk to the porch and stand by my dad.
"I can't help her. They will find us and then what? I can save her little brother but, not her. It's too late the taragenosis has already taken affect. Please she doesn't belong with me. She needs someone who can protect her."
"She could hurt so many people. How could we take someone like that in? You are better off giving her to the military and letting them handle this."

"No that's exactly what I don't want to do. She is a human being, not a monster. Please, I will come back for her. I just have to get her brother safe first." The lady nods. It was only now that I realized I was crying. The dad left and the scene changed. I was back in the tower. Except I was chained to a table.
"Steve!" I yell out. He shows up and I relax," Thank Gosh I was so scared. What's happening?"

"I'm sorry Makenna, we have to do what's best for everyone." I start to struggle when everyone backs away. I can hear the crackle of electricity as it heads for me. The last thing I hear is Steve saying that I'm a monster.

I open my eyes and I am on my knees on the ground. I look up and I am back in the room. Except this time I am not alone. There is a girl only 15 feet away. And a guy standing in front of me with a gun. "Who are you?" I whimper.
"Someone like you. I have power, mine differs from yours though. I can control the fears that others seek to hide and make them become reality. Too bad you will never be able to do that Makenna. People might start to think that you aren't a monster." I grit my teeth and jump up. He backs away but I only walk closer. He starts to shit the gun, bullets fly everywhere. I don't know if I'm hit because at this point the adrenaline is taking over. I run towards him and take his gun. I continue to hit him until he hits the ground, unconcious.

I go over to the girl who is awake but barely. I look at my shoulder and see the blood but I don't feel the pain so I just continue to help the girl. I untie her and help her. We get out of the room just as Steve runs up the stairs. He sees us and comes to help me.
"No take her, I'm fine." Steve is reluctant but takes her. i go back into the room and put power numbing handcuffs on the man. I grab his leg and start to drag him out. The whole time one word echoing in my brain. Monster.
