Its a little known secret,
But every sock has a fear of a partner that might leave him,
Because what use is a sock on its own?!
Except for the cripple, a single sock cannot be worn.
And what use is a sock that cannot be worn?!
Taking up space in the bin? Ending up in the single sock drawer?
*shiver*
*Stays in their pair out of fear of being alone*I know a fair few single socks,
Abandoned by magician partners,
Pulled the disappearing act,
Guess they forgot to disappear back,
And i am proud to say,
Single socks have many a time, saved my day,
Not just to fill up with coins and condoms,
But also to do the things paired socks cant be called for,
Once a year, around spring, we meet,
All my single socks in a pile near my feet,
(Bare of course, for a friendly approach)
And i delegate tasks, play the coach.Black sock, for my whiteboard,
In receive of the daily satisfaction,
Of wiping away completed lists,
What a meaningful action,
How can a job like that be dissed?White sock, cleans the windows,
Look at the rain, the sun, the meadow,
Your job is simply admiring a view,
How could you not enjoy the early morning dew?Single socks can have it hard,
Lonely, mistaken, set aside and apart,
Thrown in the trash, or forgotten,
But some are put to good use and used for their cotton,
Some, like mine, have lives meaningful and true,
Its easy to forget you're alone, when admiring a view.
So next time in spring, when your single socks greet,
Remember,
Not all socks, are meant for your feet.
