Harley was exhausted. She had been up all night learning about her patient. Her hair was a mess, and she fell asleep with her makeup on. She wasn't even wearing pajamas. When she finally realized what time it was she shot upright. She was running late. She new there was a possibility of her getting to work on time, so she jumped out of bed. She ran to the bathroom and took off her makeup. Then she quickly applied some foundation, highlighter, mascara, a bit of liquid liner, and her favorite red lipstick. She knew she wouldn't have time to shower so she used some dry shampoo and a little extra deodorant. She then changed into some black skinny jeans, a red sweater and her white coat. She threw on her red pumps and put her hair into an adorable messy bun. Harley grabbed her phone, wallet, and a granola bar. Then she was out the door.
Lucky for Harley, she managed to get to work on time. She forgot how interesting this place was. She looked at the cracked bricks in the wall and the moss growing in-between them. It was a beautiful day outside. The sky was a beautiful shade of blue and there were big, fat, puffy, clouds. Harley checked in at the door and head to the staff room to say hello to Olivia. As she walked down the halls, she observed all of the patients. A lot of them were asleep, a few were up at their desks, and some she saw awake, but too injured to get up and walk around. Harley knew how evil they were, but still had pity for them.
"Knock, Knock!" Harley giggled as she walked into the staff room.
"Hi Harley," Oliva laughed.
"Hello Olivia, when did you get here?"
"About an hour ago, I have to check on all the patients in the mornings."
"Well I am so excited to get started today!" Chirped Harley.
"Okay, well your first job is to grab a clipboard and observe the Joker's actions. We aren't quite sure that he is awake yet, but after his surprising outburst yesterday, we want to see if he is any different this morning."
"You mean after he talked to me," Harley wasn't quite sure if this was a good thing or a bad thing. After reading those articles about him, she always thought he would be kind of talkative. Olivia seemed to be making a big deal about him talking.
"Well.... yes, we aren't sure how you got him to talk yesterday..."
"Alright... I will go check on him, what was the number again?"
"He was just moved to a more secure room. There is a document on your desk in your office that has the number, but your office is room 222 on the second floor to the top floor. Just check in with me around lunch time, okay?"
"Okay, Olivia, see you later." Harley smiled and walked towards the elevator. It was time to see her new office. She walked down the hall and looked for room 222.
"219...220...221...ah 222." Harley entered the room.
"Wow.." There was a desk in the middle of the room with one light on. An area on the right side of the room had a small table, a counter with a coffee maker, a sink, and a few cabinets. On the left side there was a long dark green couch. The room was pretty big and open. There was a coat rack by the door and a few windows behind Harley's desk. She walked over to her desk to see a vase with a rose in it. There was a note tied to the rose.
"You should come see me sometime... I'd love to talk... -MJ" Harley smiled... and then she realized that the Joker was out of his cell. She shook her head, wondering if that's why he was moved to a more secure cell. The new room number was written on a profile for the Joker, room 348. Harley new it was on the top floor. She made her way back to the elevator and traveled to floor number three. She walked towards the very end of the hall until she saw the number. Harley saw number 348, here we are. She made a left and saw the cell. This cell wasn't like the rest. It had pale blue walls and a completely white bed. There was a birch desk and a wooden chair. There was the Joker. He hadn't seen her yet. She grabbed her pencil and wrote what he was doing.
He looked... depressed. He just sat and stared at the wall. He wasn't smiling."Hello..." The Joker turned his head to look at her.
"Hi Harley..."
"Would you like to talk?" Harley asked sincerely. Seeing him like that made her feel absolutely awful.
"I got your note....I don't think you'd want Olivia to know you have been out of your cell..."
"Alright Harley we can talk, but you might not like what you hear,"
"I will book a sesion, and I will be back after lunch." The Joker smiled and then looked away. She knew his smile was fake. She frowned, jotting down notes while she walked away.
"Olivia, I want to book a session with him, he seems so depressed,"
"No, there will be no sessions with that monster." Olivia seemed angered by the question, but Harley was angered by her answer. He was no monster, he was just broken; and he needed to be repaired. Harley frowned and ate her sandwich. She walked back to her office to read through some of his files. He had been there multiple times before. She sat there for hours, reading reports. All of them made her angry. They all said things like freak and monster and murderer. She threw the folder across the room. She was being childish. She was acting like a five year old who's mother wouldn't let her go to the playgorund. She picked up the folder, confused about why she felt so strongly about the notes. She stopped by the Joker's cell and told him she was working on getting a session in. Then she said goodnight and left. She sat on her bed that night thinking, how could she help him...
