"Please let me go!" I pleaded, my parents. My dad looked up from his evening paper and raised a brow while looking at me with his dark brown eyes, I starred back at him with my cutest possible puppy dog eyes trying to get him to agree with me. It always worked on people but I guess my dad's an exception to this trick.
"Olivia darling, it's not that I don't want you to go, cause I do. I just don't think two seventeen year old girls should be going on a road trip on there own," he tried to reason with me,but I am not backing down just yet. Going on a road trip is what i've always wanted to do and now i'm going to do it no matter what. My dad has always been the over protective and stubborn type of parent. He would never let me go to party's and I could go out with friends if I was home before 6:00.
I frowned creasing my forehead, "But daaaaaad! You never let me do anything, letting me do this one thing wouldn't hurt would it? Please! And you know Sally is eighteen so technically she is an adult and a trustworthy one at that!" I fought back. As my mum finished washing the dishes, she faced me with a smile and walked over to dad placing her gentle hands around his shoulder. "Honey I think we should let her go. She is a teenager and I trust her enough to make her own decisions" she said, adding her opinion on the situation at hand as she sat down next to dad.
My mom was the total opposite from dad. She would let me go out and have fun, thinking that I shouldn't waste me teenage life at home studying. Dad starred at his wife before he sighed and reluctantly turned to me before putting his paper down on the table in an organized manner. "Fine. But only for the weekend and you have to call me everyda-" Before he could finish I abruptly stood up knocking my chair to the marble floor in the process and ran to my dad with open arms. "Oh my G*d! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" I screamed whilst giving him a bone crushing hug and a big kiss on the cheek.
I could hear mom and dad both chuckling while I zoomed upstairs and grabbed my phone from my bed. Dialing Sally, my best childhood friend she picked up after the second ring, "So!?" She asked immediately getting straight to the point. I smiled widely and nodded until I remembered she couldn't see me through the phone and answered "They said yes!" We both began shrieking like two overly happy kids going to the park - but I don't care! I was going on a road trip with my best-friend, even if it was for only two days. "You have to start packing right now! I will pick you up tomorrow at 8:30 so make sure you're awake and ready!" She instructed before hanging up. I chucked my phone on my bed and started packing. I packed my clothes into a bag, consisting of a few jeans and T-shirt's, short's, one extra pair of shoes and the necessary toiletries. I hardly ever where a lot of accessories except for this one neck less given to me by my big brother, James, on my eighth birthday. He's living in New York now with his girlfriend.
"There. Everything's packed and ready to go," I sighed. I leaped onto my bed and stared at the baby blue ceiling in my room. "Can I come in?" I looked to the side to see my mom standing in the doorway. I nodded and she swiftly walked to my bed and sat on the edge of the bed. "Are you done packing?" she asked. "Yeah..." Alright I don't know about you but sometimes it's a bit awkward between me and my family. I just never know what to say at times like this.
"Olivia darling, make sure you don't do anything stupid. We are really trusting you in this one and we don't want you to get hurt" She said locking her worried green eyes with my ones. It's only natural for them to feel this way out me leaving. Like when James decided he was gonna move to New York my parents were devastated and refused. But they knew that he was going to move out eventually and since he was an adult they let him go. It was weird without an annoying brother here but life goes on. "I know mum. Like I promised, I will call you every day and besides it's only for two days" I said in a cheery tone. She smiled and nodded.
"When are you leaving? have you got everything packed?" She asked. Typical mother. "Tomorrow at 9:30 and you already asked me that. I'm gonna sleep now, packing is pretty tiring..." I said yawning slightly. Mum stood up and kissed me on the cheek. "Well you better sleep then," Mom walked away shutting the door as she left.
