Fairy-Tale or Reality

"One day I'm gonna be a princess!" Zoe told her mom as they were walking to kindergarten. Her mom just smiled at her, and dropped her off. Zoe smiled at her mom because she rarely smiles. If she were a princess, her parents would be King and Queen, meaning they would love each other. If they loved each other, they would be happy and love Zoe more. Zoe, the ever so mature girl knows it's impossible for her to become a princess.

"Your dad will pick you up at noon, okay?" Zoe's mom said as she got a phone call. She quickly excused herself as she answered it. "What is it. Tell him if he doesn't agree to our terms the deal is off." She was saying as she left, half an hour before school started. Zoe sat in the corner by the kindergarten class door, crying because she didn't even say bye. Her mom always leaves enough time to say bye at least. On the rare occasion she would stay long enough to watch Zoe play on the playground, but she rarely does.

After ten minutes, students started arriving, and the kindergarten teacher went it and saw Zoe crying. "What's wrong?" She asked the normally quiet five-year-old. Zoe tensed up, not expecting anyone to see her cry, because no one ever does at home. She looked up, hoping to see her mom, but seeing her teacher.

"Mommy let and didn't even say bye." Zoe quietly told her teacher. Zoe and the teacher talked until the kindergartner stopped crying, which was when school started. Zoe, although closest to the door, was the last inside the class. Zoe doesn't care, she likes it when she's the last one in. That way she knows where everyone else is sitting and no one gets mad at her.

"Alright, gather around! Today we will be reading a book of Ashley's choosing!" The teacher told the class as everyone sat on the Story Time Rug. Ashley, a loud redhead, thought about the books the teacher says she has every Monday. Zoe signed, hoping she'll be picked, but she never is. It's always someone with friends because the picker from the other day picks the next person.

"Cinderella!" Ashley said, remembering her favourite book. Ashley went to the bookshelf and grabbed the book that had Cinderella on it. Zoe sat quietly in the back, hoping it wasn't like any of the books that were picked before. Zoe hates the other books. Always the same rhymes. As the teacher read about Cinderella, Zoe found herself crawling towards the front. She found herself falling in love with the book. Falling in love with Cinderella. Zoe loved how Cinderella was just an ordinary girl, and fell in love with a prince, and became a princess.

For the whole day she thought of Cinderella. How her Fairy Godmother saved her. How she danced with the prince she fell in love with all night. She almost risked the spell and getting the prince to find out about her life, just to be with him longer. Zoe was in love.

That night Zoe went to bed dreaming of being a Fairy Tale Princess whose name was Zaria.

"Zaria! Wake up. It's time for breakfast." A maid woke up the five-year-old princess. Zaria sighed because she was having a good dream of being an Ordinary Girl. An Ordinary Girl in a world without magic or royalty. Zaria sat up and rubbed her eyes. "Zaria! Your parents requested you to be in the dining hall in less than 15 minutes." The main opened the curtains to show it was dawn.

"Alright. Tell them I'll be down once I change." Zaria said, jumping out of bed in her nightgown. The maid left, blushing at the five-year-old's lack of modesty. Zaria went to the huge closet, and grabbed a dress for the day. Zaria quickly put the light purple dress on, and grabbed some shoes. Running out of her room, she put on her shoes.
