Without who this story would never have begun.

...

The lovely woman stood behind a tree, waiting.

Waiting for dawn to approach, so she knew her child would be safe with the human couple.

When the sky lightened, and the soft morning breeze blew her golden locks about her face, she knew it was time.

She walked to the porch of the house, climbed the steps and knelt down in front of the door. She carefully placed her baby on the doormat, making sure her that its golden head was pillowed by many layers of the mint green blanket.

She held its tiny, soft hand and whispered 'I will come back for you both, my sweet daughter, for I love you and him more than anything that exists in this cruel world... I will come back,' and kissed it. As she bent down to kiss her daughter's head, the door opened.

There stood the human woman with her husband, the people she had seen yearn and cry for a child. She was about to run from them, when the women knelt down and wiped tears from her cheeks. She had been crying.

'Why are you leaving your child here?' asked the woman. It was too late now. She did not have her powers, and these people wouldn't let her go easily.

She collapsed right there, sobbing, and told them everything. Her husband, her home, her daughter, the bracelet on her hand, all of it. Like anybody would be, they were shocked. She made them swear that they wouldn't tell anyone about this, and they understood. The human man picked up the baby and cradled her, while his wife helped the woman up. The baby had been sleeping up until the time that her mother began to cry. Now, she just stared at the three adults around her with her large, glittering blue eyes. Her mother whispered something in her ear, kissed her on the head, and ran.

From the house, into the woods.

The humans never saw her again.
