Tickle tickle

*NOTE* I did not pick the name or the gender for the baby, I left that honour to my friend mago (okay her name is Maggie but I call her mago okay) and yea so thank mago for that. teheheh

*Perrie's POV*

I woke up in a hospital bed. What the fuck.

I rubbed my eyes with my fists and blinked a couple times to adjust to my surroundings. There was no one in the room except for Zayn, who was pacing back and forth rapidly in front of my hospital bed. He hadn't notice me wake up yet.

"Zaynie?'' I called out to him softly. He looked up at me with his ears perked up like a dog and instantly walked over to me.

"Perrie, oh my god, I thought you were dead." He looked like he had been crying. I don't remember what happened between us, really. I know we had some argument, so my first reaction was wiggling toward the corner of the hospital bed farthest from him as he reached down to hug me.

Zayn sighed, disappointed at my action. "I'll go get the doctor." He said to no one in particular.

He left and came back a few minutes later with the Baby Inspector.

"Perrie, you gave us quite a fright!" The Baby Inspector chuckled.

"What happened?" I asked, looking down at the IV in my arm.

"Well, Zayn over here tells me you guys were in a heated argument before you fainted, so I assume it was a result of stress." He explains, looking at Zayn disapprovingly. Zayn rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.

"But don't worry; it's a common thing in young expecting mothers. You should be discharged in a couple of hours or so, we're just running a couple of tests." The Baby Inspector added as I repeatedly nodded my head at his words.

"Also," - he looked down at a folder that I just realized he was holding - "It says in my file that you're overdue to find out the gender of the baby. If you'd like, we can wheel you over to the maternity ward and have an ultrasound done."

I look over at Zayn, who was fiddling with his thumbs guiltily, and then I remembered what our argument was about.

"Yea, you can wheel me over." I say, all while looking at Zayn as if I were saying I forgive him. He looked up at me with the slightest bit of hope and I nodded my head in confirmation. Like some secret code.

After struggling to get out of bed, a short wheelchair ride, and another struggle of getting onto a bed, I was soon getting mad cold jelly squirted on my bump. Ugh. I had stretch marks.

"Ready?'' The Baby Inspector asks, referring to if we were ready to find out the sex of the baby. I looked up at Zayn, who held my hand and had a distant look on his face, and nodded.

"It's a..." He stops, wiggles the probe around a little more, and speaks. "It's a girl! Congrats."

Wow. A tiny little baby girl was growing in my abdomen. I felt special.

I wanted her. I wanted to keep her. She's mine; with or without Zayn.

I looked up at Zayn and he seemed to be just as thrilled as I was. When the Baby Inspector turned his back, I sat up and pecked Zayn on the cheek really quickly. He blushed. Fucking blushed like a love struck teenager.

Eventually I was all cleaned up and out of that bed. The Baby Inspector wheeled me out a wheelchair, but I told him I wanted to walk back to my room with Zayn. Alone. I intertwined our hands as we walked down the hospital halls and that's when he broke down.

"Perrie, I'm so sorry this is all my fault. I hate what I've done and I just get so frustrated at myself and I'm so, so sorry. I was acting irrational and that's what stuck you here. I love you and this baby so much and just, oh god, please. I'm sorry." He was talking at a fast pace and I could barely understand what he was saying.

I forgave him. I really did. I was being stupid before - I wanted to keep our little girl. And now I could tell Zayn did too.

I pecked his cheek. "Stop talking. I love you too - let's move past this. The real issue here is finding a perfect name for our daughter."

Zayn grinned at me, and I continued to talk. "I want her to be named after a great person, you know? Someone who has made a difference."

Zayn's next action surprised me a bit.

Just as I said that, a nurse was walking past us. She seemed to be at a leisure pace.

He stopped her. "Hi, are you a great person?" Zayn asked her, completely serious.

The nurse gave him a curious look. "I like to think so." She laughs. She had a Welsh accent.

"And, um, what's your name?'' He balled his fist into his other hand as he spoke.

"Dakota-Mae. Is there something I can help you with, sweetheart?''

"Nope, you've helped us enough." Zayn smiles and grab my hand, ushering me a little faster down the hall leaving a very confused look.

He left it quiet for a bit until he said: "I like the name Dakota-Mae."

I laugh, "Gee, I wonder where you got that from." He smiles at me.

"To be honest, that is a nice name. But it's a bit of a mouthful. How about just Dakota? Mae can be her middle name."

"Yeah, okay. Dakota Mae Malik. It has kind of a nice ring to it."

I placed a hand on my bump. "Welp, Dakota sure is a kicker."

We reached my room after a while more of walking considering it was all the way on the other side of the hospital.

"Hey, do you mind if I take a short walk around? It'll be like five minutes, tops." I say to Zayn.

He nods. "Yea, go ahead. I have to make a short phone call anyway."

I salute him off - pun intended - and begin my descend around the hospital. I was tired of being lazy and sitting around and being pregnant.

Eventually I made it back to the front desk and I was going to turn back when I noticed a girl sitting in the waiting room by herself, about as young and pregnant as I was. She seemed to be dreading life.

I walked over and sat next to her, mainly because my feet hurt. I had no intentions of talking to her, but I guess my sitting next to her made her think otherwise.

"Hi. I know who you are." She gushes.

I look at her stupidly. "Congrats, dearest."

"I'm Mia," She introduces herself to me, as if I looked like I wanted to have a conversation.

"Perrie," I wink at her.

"Well, duh! I just said I knew who you were!" She snorts, giggling.

I sigh heavily. Great, now I'm stuck talking to 'Mia.'

"Are you here with anyone?" I ask her, seeing she's pregnant and sitting alone. Instantly, Mia's happy face fades and I feel bad.

"U-um no... I was taken advantage of." She gulps. "The father didn't want anything to do with the baby, so I can't keep him. I can't raise him by myself. I want what's best for my little boy and that is to put him up for adoption." She looked down at her bump.

"Oh, I'm so sorry..." Poor girl.

"It's fine, you don't have to pity me. It was mostly my fault for being so oblivious." She gave me a weak smile.

I was going to say more, but Zayn came rushing down the hallway out of nowhere.

"Perr, Baby Inspector wants to talk to you." He told me, out of breath. Mia gives him a weird look as he said what he said, but he ignored her.

"You're doing a good thing." I whispered to Mia before catching up to Zayn who was already halfway down the hallway.
