Connie's Log - Sol 16

I know. I'm sorry that it has taken me so long to write, but I have good reason for the delay. I have made a breakthrough, be it so small, on the com system! I thought that when the Hab went through the giant "Sand-maggedon" as Watney calls it, that all of our com system went kaput, BUT, one of our work stations, Martinez's, is still acting as though it is transmitting data. It really isn't, but I should be able to find the cause of the confusion.  I mean, I am pretty handy with a soldering iron. *cracks knuckles and puts arms behind head*

"Ha! And you think I'm weird when I make my logs! Accept it, Murphy! You are coming to the dark side-normalcy! I know it may be hard for you to accept, but I see the early stages. In a few weeks, you may even be-dare I say it?- funny?"

"You're hilarious, Watney. Maybe you will get a personality trait other than being a A-hole! That would be a wonderful day!" I smirked at him and walked over to the kitchen to make some Martian coffee- hot water and a crushed caffeine pill. Watney sighed.

"Whatever, Murphy." I raised my eyebrow and looked over at him.

"What? The great Watney has no witty comeback? Where is your usual repartee?

"I just don't think it is a good idea, the two of us fighting like this. We are stuck here, and we should be working together, not apart. Hey, this is as good of a chance for me to learn about mechanical engineering, and for you to learn about botany as there ever will be. Wadda ya say, pal? Truce?" He held out his hand for me to shake.

"This isn't a trick is it? I'm not doing that "friends with benefits" crap. I understand we are the only people here, but this is a life or death situation.  Understand?" Watney laughed.

"What do you take me to be? A pervert?" I shrugged. "Oh that hurts, Murphy, but I'll shake. But, hey, at least you are actually more normal thank thought. You're mind went instantly to the gutter." I gave him the finger. "Don't, Murphy! I'm going to start crying at your rapid progress!" I sighed and  headed over to my bunk. "Okay, that's' cool. It has been a busy day for you. You go take a nap. I'll try not to break everything." I moaned, not only because my ribs hurt, but because Watney was literally killing me.
