May's POV

"...thirteen year old Callie Black, who obtained her shocking evidence from the diary of Jayden Darcy, a survivor of the so-called 'Proud War'..."
I turn in my chair, eyes squeezed shut, hands over my ears, drowning out the noise. I don't need to hear it, I've heard it so many times already. I don't know who Callie Black is, or how she got it, but it's too late now. Still.
I don't want to hear it, don't want to hear any of it.
I'm not Jayden Darcy anymore.
She disappeared with the diary, with all the others responsible for evidence of the Proud War, many years ago.
I'm May now, May Walker.
And I like that name, the name that represents a normal life, where I can grow old and die in peace.
But not anymore. Now, it won't be long before they find me, want to question me, ask if it's true and ask for all the details. Before I have to think about... Him again. Him, who's name I still can't bring myself to say.
Him, who I've tried so hard to forget for all these years.
Him, my poor, beloved brother who died when the fighting should have been over.
No, I can't possibly talk about him.
I'm too old, I'm too tired. It's time for me to fade away here in this comfortable little home. Time for my strange time on this funny earth to be over; to move into the life beyond, or simply into nothingness, I really do not mind. My time is almost up, I can feel it.
Yes.
It's nearly time for me to slip away.
Disappear quietly like Jayden.
I only hope they don't find me first.

AN: in case you hadn't realised, this is the sequel to All They Didn't Know.
Enjoy! ;) xx
