Chapter one
Everyone was staring down the clock as the last 10 minutes were left of school, it was the last day and everyone had their plans to go off and party. I mean I plan on going out tonight but I don't go to regular parties. I prefer to go to those raves, those hard core bands, where everyone is banging their heads back and forth, getting in mosh pits and fighting. I'm only 17 and in 11th grade, the raves only allow 17 and up (thank god) its funny how everyone had their own groupies. My so called group was a bunch of misfits, don't get me wrong I love them, their the closest people I've got, I can rely on them for a place to stay. anyway back to the clock, only 2 minutes and I'm out of this pie hole.
"Daisy? You going to the rave tonight?" my best friend Jolene bumped me with a grin.
"Ah, why not?" I shrugged.
I wasn't planning on staying home tonight for sure, since really no one will actually be there, but I never plan on staying home. My dad comes home once a week to check how moms doing but he doesn't know she having an affair with him every week with different guys, my dads a drinker and I'm pretty sure he's been with several different women too. It's really not a surprise because a year ago I noticed how different they were both acting, like they weren't married anymore. My dad never came home as often and I was getting used to the idea of it being just me. My mom is a drug addict. I tried to help her recover but once she asked if I could give her money for food once she got out of rehab. So I really thought she had changed, I was really happy but it all tumbled down hill. So I try to keep my distance from her.
(Bell rings)
"Ah! finally! the bell" I exclaimed
I walked out of my poetry class saying bye to Jolene, walking alone into the halls, I walked up to my locker where this couple always seems to make out at(right next to my locker). I put some of my things into a plastic bag, I cleaned my locker spotless, leaving nothing behind. I walked over to the exit and threw the plastic bag in the trash. I felt careless today, tonight was going to be the best night ever. I heard everyone in school yelling and rushing out of the building, I snuck out the back to get away from that shoving and push hallway. I walked over to my car and threw my notebook in the back seat and drove off. My phone vibrated, I got a text from Jolene.
" Come early to my house and we can leave then. 8:30!"
I love the way she says things, Jolene is the only person who know my deepest darkest secrets. I parked a block away from my house, in the alley so no one knew I was home, I lifted the matt at the front gate an grabbed the "hidden Key" my mom leaves for her every week boyfriends.
I quickly snuck up to my half empty room and grabbed the left over clothes I had in my dresser. and the rest of the money my mom had in her "pretend to be moms night out" piggy bank. she only had 40 dollars I don't think she could figure out it was me because a week ago one of her boyfriends stole at least 100 dollars and tried to replace it with monopoly money. hah. how lame is that guy. I hoped out of the window and locked the gate behind me I crept around the corner and saw my mom and her "this week boyfriend" coming up the front yard. they finally went inside and I walked over the alley and into my car. I started my car and drove off to Jolene's house.
it was about 6:30 and I was stopping through the drive thru at tommy's burger, the drive thru was packed so I decided to park, inside wasn't as full, at least I could leave on time. I was the next person in line to order. The guy in front of me orders a full family meal, which took long to write down but I didn't mind. Across from me there was this guy staring at me, sitting in a tall booth, it wasn't a stalking stare it was more like a trying to read you kind of stare. I studied his body from head to toe and looked at every detail of him. I finally looked at his face and locked eyes. I looked right into his light green eyes and my heart skipped a beat. His skin looked smooth and his hair was light brown and long. he looked tall and skinny. he wore this dark light blue sweater with lines going across and wore light gray pants. I looked at his face again shutting every sound around me out. Everything suddenly became a blur, I didn't know what was happening. I felt like he was getting closer the longer I was staring at him.
