Blood splatters surrounded the floor and walls. The screams had died down, but there was no mistaking what had happened down here. Grabbing my brother's hand, we slowly walked around the basement, looking at everything our father had lying around. There seemed to be nothing of importance, until we saw the golden yellow hair peaking out of one of his chests. Afraid of what would actually be inside, I hid behind my older brother Ryan. My twin brother, Tyler, was upstairs distracting our father so we could find mother. I knew we had found her when my father's booming voice sounded behind us.
The golden hair I had seen earlier, the hair which was identical to my own, belonged to my mother. I couldn't believe my eyes, tears threatening to spill when I finally realized what had happened.
My father got on his knees in front of me, telling me how it was an accident and he would never hurt someone. I almost believed him, before he hit Ryan for trying to take me away. Not wanting to see anymore, I ran up the stairs to where Tyler was holding his eye. Tear stains streaked down his cheeks, and I knew that he had been hit too. Grabbing his arm, we ran out the front door and to the neighbors house.
When the police finally showed up, Ryan and father were nowhere to be found.
