CHAPTER 30
A-Part, START!
Neji and Uryuu detested each other. In every sense of the word. So naturally, when they were put on a mission as PARTNERS. It didn't bode well... for the universe.
As they left that Monday that all of the teams departed, Lady Tsunade wondered why she had put them together. Maybe she should rearrange?
Nah! Too much work. She had done a good job--time to go place a little bet on some sake at the pub.
So Neji and Uryuu left together. The journey to the Lin jungle, the location of their mission, only took a few hours.
"Our mission is to investigate strange dissapearances in the Lin jungle not too far from here-" Uryuu started, reading the map and trying to point them in the right direction. They were now thick in an adjoining forest, and in fact, not too far from the Lin jungle.
"Yeah, no shit." Neji cut him off sharply.
Uryuu shook his fist behind his back. "We clearly need to go this way." Neji continued, pointing towards a big ominous temple in a clearing about a half a mile away.
"And why, would I listen to YOU?"
"Because I sense something THERE."
"Oh so now you can SENSE things..." Uryuu chuckled.
"What's that supposed to mean?!" Neji asked, whipping around to.glare at Uryuu.
"Nothing, just that you should leave the 'sensing things', to the Pro's. I sense that we should be going to where we're SUPPOSED to be going," Uryuu said pointing to their left.
Laughter bubbled throughout the thicket of trees, seeming to roll off of even the faces of moss covered stones. Uryuu turned slowly, already dreading following NEJI. Because that would mean he was right. Uryuu angrily waded after Neji, Neji wearing a slight smug smile on his face.
Unbeknownst to Neji and Uryuu, (except for a feeling of power) a young boy sat on the very top of the steps of the crumbling temple. He sat impatiently spinning his yo-yo. "Oh come on! My new playthings are so old and slow! This is my first time using my new body and I have to use it on those two lame-o's? He KNEW what he was doing when he set me up with these guys!" He kicked a small rock into the forest below. "NO FAIR!" He bellowed into the sky.
But the thought of playing again cheered him, and he broke into uncontrollable giggles.
Neji and Uryuu stood on the edge of the clearing, the laughing still echoing. They cautiously and slowly reached the temple steps. No sooner did Uryuu hold out his hand for them to stop then a huge red flying disk slam into the ground before them, exploding a huge crater. Neji and Uryuu jumped back, holding up their hands to gaurd against the flying chunks of rock.
When the dust cleared, above the crater stood a little boy. He looked younger than even Toshiro, and shorter also. He wore a elementary schoolboy's uniform: little blue pleted shorts, a white blouse, a blue striped tie and a blue coat, black shoes and a hat tipped over his wild chestnut colored hair. Uryuu was more surprised that the boy was shorter than the four foot Captain, then anything else.
"Who are you?" Neji shouted up.
"I am Noritaka! But my friends just call me Nori! You can call me Nori if you want,"
"I mean, what do you want from us?!" Neji snapped, annoyed. Noritaka was unphased. "I want to play, silly!" He laughed. "I don't get to play a lot, so HE let me have you. It doesn't look like it will be much fun, unless you're stronger than you look. Are you stronger than you look-?"
