Chapter 2:

*flashback*

I was sat on the swing set while the beaming sun warmed my body. My hands wrapped around the cool metal chains. We watched the little innocent kids jump from one platform to another. One kid in particular resembled what Mika looked like in her younger ages, brown choppy hair with bangs that revealed all of her face except her eyebrows. She had on a long maroon colored sundress that danced in the air while she ran to the monkey bars. We exchanged looks, thinking the same idea.

"We could do it, you know." I said with a grin."

"What? Have a baby or do the..." She raised her eyebrows and motioned her hands as if she were trying to fit a word there.

"I was thinking the first option but I guess the second one is definitely necessary." I winked at her, knowing it drove her mad.

We started brainstorming baby names. Lillie, Bonnie, Dani, & Reagan seemed to be the popular interests between us, but there was one that was undeniable.

"Darcy." We said in unison.

This is the name I was supposed to be identified as, considering the fact that I was originally supposed to be a girl. We fantasized that one day we will move back to where I was from. We planned a family with a son and a daughter. I told her I wanted an older son, so he would protect his younger sister. My sister was 2 years older than me. We got along very well.

The topic suddenly changed to marriage.

"Who'd your best man be?" Mika questioned.

"Most likely Lou." I quickly answered. It would definitely be Lou. We made a pact back in grade school where I would be his best man and he would be mine. Kinda silly, but we were 11.

"Ah, yes, mystery man."

"Oh right! You still haven't met him! I'll give him a call right now."

Mika's POV *still in flashback*

Harry dialed his phone and waited for Louis to answer. I pictures him as a short, brunette. I inferred he had green eyes, and a great personality. From what harry has told me, he always brought life into the room. You'd always hear his laugh, even if you were 30 miles away. Just a great person who knows how to make people happy.

"Hey Lou! Meet me at the park okay?"

I heard his muffled voice through the phone. Sounded like, "Whyyy," is a really annoyed, yet sassy tone.

"Just get over here, there's someone I want you to meet."

Lou agreed to Harry's demands and said he'd get here in 10 minutes.

"Well that was easier than I thought it would be. Looks like he wants to meet you!"

A dark land rover rolled into the parking lot. Harry informed me it was Lou.

"Any boundaries with him?" I asked.

"Uhhh... Don't bring up his family.."

"What happened to them?"

"I can't really tell you yet, he's coming. I'll tell you later babe."

Damn I wish I'd known that earlier. It made me curious as to why he wouldn't tell me anything to warn me before hand.

"HARREHHH!" A loud voice bolted out as soon as he stepped onto the park pavement. Haz was right; you did always hear him before you saw him. Next to him was a short, lean girl who I inferred to be his girlfriend. She had long, curly brown hair with a Starbucks coffee in one hand, and her iPhone in another. Judging by her clothes she seemed pretty wealthy. I wondered why harry hasn't informed me of her, considering the fact he pretty much said everything there is to know about Lou.

"LOU! how've you been mate?" Harry embraced him in a cute bro-hug. You can just tell how close they were.

"I've been good, better I should say."

I heard harry mumble in his ear, probably regarding the mystery about his family. Lou let you a quiet and sorrowful "yes" and he walked towards me.

"And this is... Eleanor, right?" Harry asked, as if trying to remember her from some time ago.

The girl, presumed to be named Eleanor, glared up at her phone for a second only to look back down at it again. I couldn't decipher her emotion, however, for she was wearing a pair of Ray Bans that shielded her eyes.

"Yeah you know El! Remember few months back at that crazy banger? Well guess something sparked that night.. If you know what I mean." He looked off, going back to the time he described. "Ah, good ol' teenage memories." Harry let out a simple head nod & a small grin appeared, revealing the deep dimples on his cheeks.

My face remained completely still this whole time, unimpressed by Harry's best friend & his so called 'girlfriend' who I'm almost 100% sure is only attracted to Lou for his money.

"So Haz, who's this lovely lady?"

"I'm Mika. Nice to meet you, Lou! Harry's told me so much about you!" It almost pained me to put on a happy face & seem the least bit of interest in this man. But I had to do it. Louis meant so much to Harry. And maybe I've mistaken his personality. I mean I have only known him for 5 minutes tops. But something just didn't sit right with him, and I'm not sure if I know what.

Harry's Pov

After a few more moments of small talk, the four of us made our way to Red's, where I was surprised by the amount of people there that morning. We took our seats on the near couch in the corner of the cafè. All of us, excluding Eleanor, who seemed to busy with her phone to take the time to talk, had a pretty decent conversation. We talked about random things. Music, sports, anything.

"So Mika, mind coming with me to the counter and getting some drinks for everyone?" I was curious as to why Lou asked Mika rather than El, but probably just to get a sense of her personality better.

"Um, sure." Mika as well had a puzzled look on her face.

I leaned back in my chair to get comfortable. "So Eleanor, how's things? All good?"

"Fine." She replied in a high pitched voice.

"So you and Lou getting serious yet?" Maybe I shouldn't have asked that, but I mean, I gotta break the ice with this girl. She hasn't payed the slightest interest in anyone, even Lou!

"I guess." She snapped her bubble gum and I gave up. No need breaking the wall with someone who doesn't give to shits.

"Alright, screw you," I mumbled under my breath, sure she wouldn't hear. I took out my phone from my sweatshirt pocket and went on twitter.

A sudden shriek made me shoot up from my seat. I turned around to find Mika screaming on the floor, as if she was protecting herself. I had no idea what was going on. I ran over to her.

"Mika what's wrong what happened?!" I cupped her face as I kneeled on the floor in front of her. She started kicking and punching. Her eyes were shut tight and her hands clenched her hair.

"Mika you're okay! Snap out of this!" I turned over to Louis who had a blank expression on his face. "What the fuck did you do to her?!" I tried to interrogate him and comfort Mika simultaneously. We've drawn the most attention possible but I didn't care. All I was worried about was Mika and what happened.

"I didn't do nothin mate! She just started flipping out!"

*End of flashback*

I awoke to the sound of a text on my phone. Uninterested, I ignored it and walked down the hall to check on Mika. I approached the door and knocked quietly, trying not to wake her if she is in slumber. I listened for a response yet didn't seem to get one. I opened the door, causing the light to attack the darkness of the room. The clock read 10:00am. Thought it'd be a good time to wake her up now, considering the fact she'd been sleeping for 14 hours.

"Meeks." I said in a hushed voice. "Mika, wake up."

She's never much of a heavy sleeper so I'm quite taken aback at her lack of response. When I reached out I get chills at the absence of her body. Confusion spread through mine as A cool breeze welcomed me. I turned to my side and my stomach drops.

A broken window.
