Light and Darkness
Swanston street.
Home of the rich and the poor and the angry... It isn't up to me when i wake up.
My owner is the one who opens the blinds to reveal the beautiful warm sunlight impact my fur.
It's a pity i couldn't feel physically, because my inner emotions were dying to feel those warm rays that heated by stuffed body.
I could not move, but i could see, and see... and see... Everyday.
i would just sit here in my box and observe Swanston street. I was one of the privileged bears facing the beautiful side of Swanston street.
I would see men holding the ones they loved like they never wanted to let go.
Then i would see men leaving the ones they love, like they never loved them in the first place. It was a strange world i woke up to every morning...
The cars drove past my store day to day and the trams stopped to take the lovers to meet their lovers and the tourists to meet their desires.
Then there was me...
I never had a name, but never once did i stop hoping someone would choose one for me. Maybe a young boy.
Maybe a young girl.
All i wanted was to be there for someone.
Be a traveller maybe.
Maybe be placed on a paper boat that was about to sail across a large peculiar lake full of the
unknown entities.
Maybe i wanted to be Cuddled and cried upon.
It would be better than the mornings i had to wake up to.
It was like an endless time loop that i could not escape,
until one day...
I saw a gentleman walk towards me, he had a nice black shirt with a nice pair of jeans.
He was in a good mood,
like he wanted to make people smile and keep them smiling.
Forever.
The minute he walked in, i felt i could smile, but i couldn't...
He held a small pocket watch in his hand and gently placed it on the table.
So gently... I could tell it meant more to him than just silver metal and glass...
If only someone could treat me like i was more than just fur and stiched, button eyes. I overheard him saying he wanted to wrap a present for someone special, but he never
mentioned who.
Oh how excited i get when i hear that someone special will smile today, or tomorrow!
I could tell that person meant so much to him.
I saw him smile through the entire letter he wrote, like he wished nothing but joy for the receiver. If only he could see my smile.
if only...
The young lady he spoke to offered him a small stuffed bear with a love heart attached to it that hammered so hard, i could feel my own heart vibrating...
