Two pairs of sweaty hands were clasped tightly around the microphones that were lifted up to dry lips shortly after, two pairs of hearts were racing against rib cages, their eyes were flickering up nervously, glancing at people that would be the judges for everything that was laying ahead of them. Of their possible lives. Their possible futures that would be so different from going to college.
Would it be a Yes or a No?
Stay or leave the X Factor?
"Hello, what's your name?" Simon Cowell leaned back in his seat, bringing the end of his pen in between his lips.
"I'm Harry. Harry Styles." A wide cheeky smile spread across the curly haired boys face, making his eyes light up with excitement.
"I'm Louis. Louis Tomlinson." A rather shy smile crept up upon his face as soon as he brushed his fringe away.

Gemma was holding her breath backstage, her eyes broad and wide as she clutched her mother's hand tightly. "You're not giving birth yet, so stop clutching my hand so tightly," Anne joked but bit down on her lip nervously as she watched her baby boy walk confidently onto the stage. It made her heart flutter with proudness. It looked like Harry belonged right there. On stage with everyone's eyes on him. But then again, he's always loved attention on him.
We think Harry has the X Factor.
"Come on little brother you can do it.." Gemma whispered and squeaked in joy as she watched Harry from the backstage screen, her baby brother who smiled brightly at the judges in front of him.
Harry was nervous, yes. His heart was probably beating as quick as Louis would later that day, a boy he didn't get the chance to meet. Yet. Said boy was watching from the backstage area, shy blue eyes wandering over the curly haired boy that was facing the judges at that time. A small smile spread across Louis' face as he watched dimples appear on Harry's face. The boy was taking Louis' mind off the fact that he was feeling like a shaky leaf.
"I'm Harry. Harry Styles." The boy on the screen said, voice low and rough.
Simon nodded, Nicole was smiling warm heartedly and Louis Walsh was leaning forward, curiously.
"Welcome Harry, tell us a bit about yourself?" Nicole said gently, making Harry grab the microphone tighter.
"I just finished school and er I'm sixteen .. I'm working in a bakery! Just on weekends though.. um I plan on going to college in September to study business, sociology and law," he was smiling, moving his thick curls out of his forehead, "I think. Who knows what's going to happen."
Harry shrugged and bit down on his lip, keen to actually start singing.
A part of him was worried that his voice would crack. The other part was confident, believing in himself.
"The song I picked, is 'isn't she lovely'," Harry cleared his throat and licked his dry lips before he closed his eyes for a second, took a deep breath and opened them again.
They were shining in eagerness. It was only his voice that was being heard, echoing through the whole room and for a second he got goosebumps all the way down to his toes, at the mere thought that this could be the start of something new, something breath-taking.
