This one-shot is sort of an introduction to a story that I've been writing for months now. It'll be uploaded as soon as one of my other fics is finished but I thought I'd just upload this just now since I haven't had a chance to write anything else.

______

'Please tell me you feel just as overwhelmed in here as I do...' Demi says quietly as she clings onto Nick's hand while they glance around the large baby shop.

'Who knew there was so much stuff to choose from... I mean look at all those strollers! Surely they do the same thing?' Nick replies and she smiles slightly.

'Where do we even start?' She asks and he shrugs his shoulders.

'Is there anything you really want to pick up today?' He asks.

'One of those pillows I can take to bed with me.' She replies and he nods his head.

'Okay so I guess that's where we'll start?' He says.

'Hi, do you need any help today?' A woman asks making her way towards the couple dressed in the store uniform.

'Umm... This is our first time here and we're not really sure what we're doing here.' Demi admits smiling nervously.

'Ah, not to worry... First baby?' The woman asks and Demi nods her head.

'Yeah.' Demi replies.

'We've got a little checklist that gives you an idea of what you might need, I could get you one of them if you want?' The woman says causing Demi to smile.

'That would be great.' She replies. The woman nods her head and makes off in the checkout direction as Demi turns to Nick.

'A checklist will help us out.' She says and he smiles.

'Yeah... Who knew we were so clueless about all this stuff, ey?' He asks causing her to laugh as the woman makes her way back over clutching a booklets.

'This has a list of must haves and things that are nice to have... Obviously not every baby is the same and some things that work for others might not work for you.' The store assistant says.

'Thank you.' Demi replies quietly as she glances down at the booklet.

'Just try not to stress yourself out. I know it's easy to let this overwhelm you but you've got time; how far along are you?' The assistant asks.

'Just 22 weeks.' Demi replies smiling as her hand rests against her stomach.

'See you've got plenty of time.' The assistant says and Demi nods her head.

'Have a look around and let me know if you need anything.' She adds.

_____

'Where should we start?' Demi asks glancing at Nick who shrugs his shoulders.

'I have no idea... This is split into different sections. Why don't we just start at the nursery and see how we get on?' He suggests glancing down at the booklet.

'Yeah, okay.' She replies. They make their way over to the nursery furniture and begin to look around.

'What do you think is better? A normal crib or a convertible one?' Demi asks running her hand over a grey convertible crib.

'I don't know. I imagine a convertible one will last longer but I guess it really just comes down to what we prefer.' Nick replies and she nods her head.

'Yeah, I guess. Maybe we should start with something else. I mean we've not even decided on a theme for the nursery.' She says and he smiles.

'What if we look at strollers then?' He suggests and she nods her head.

'Yeah, I guess that should be easier.' She replies smiling.

'I wouldn't be so sure, did you not see all the different kinds when we came in? There's hundreds.' He says.

'Oh great.' She replies laughing.

_____

'You're still pretty tiny just now but most things will grow with you and last at least most of the pregnancy.' The sales assistant says and Demi nods her head as she lifts up a grey and pink pair of cropped leggings. They've left the baby store and headed to a nearby maternity store.

'Everything's just getting so uncomfortable and tight now.' Demi admits and the woman nods her head.

'Oh I've had three kids, I understand that feeling... Do you know what you're having?' The woman asks and Demi nods her head.

'How lovely. Well I'll leave you to pick some things out; feel free to try them on and shout me if you need any help.' The woman says smiling before heading over to the cash desk to serve another customer.

_____

'What do you think?' Demi asks stepping out of the changing room and spinning around slightly.

'Perfect, absolutely beautiful.' Nick replies glancing up from his phone.

'You've said that about the last four, Nick. I could really use your honest opinion on this.' She says, her hands sliding down her sides to smooth out creases that aren't even there.

'Okay, I'm sorry. I really liked the red one, it suited you and showed off the bump.' He replies causing her to smile.

'See that wasn't so hard was it?' She asks.

'I'm sorry I wasn't paying enough attention; you do make everything look beautiful though.' He replies.

'Nick... Come here.' She says staring at him, her hand resting flat against her stomach.

'What? why?' He asks and she reaches her free hand out.

'Come here.' She repeats. Standing he makes his way over to her and she instantly grabs his hand before holding it against her stomach.

'Oh my god... Is that?' He asks and she nods her head.

'That's our boy.' She whispers unable to keep the tears from streaming down her cheeks as she watches his face light up when he feels their baby moving for the first time.

'T-That's unbelievable.' He replies.

'That's our son telling you to pay attention to mommy.' She says causing him to laugh.

'I love you.' He says.

'I love you more.' She replies.
