Addison didn't go out much if she wasn't with Kya. They did a lot together; school, studying, looking after Nathan and Amelia, random karaoke sessions. But that was only when Addison was at her dad's. Her mum lived too far away for her to go see Kya, so weekends were pretty uneventful. Addison had to get the train to her mum's house out in the countryside, which meant she had two hours to kill there and back. Two hours each way that she spent thinking too much.

There was something going on with Kya. She was acting different, as if she didn't care about anything anymore. Kya used to talk about her dream to travel the world all the time, and now it was as if she'd forgotten that was ever something she wanted. Addison knew what Kya was doing. She knew she was going somewhere with Olivia when she shouldn't be, but what could she do to stop it? She couldn't lock Kya away all weekend while Addison went to stay with her mum. And even if she somehow managed to do that, what about weekdays? Apparently, Kya didn't exclude those days either.

Addison stared out of the window, watching the landscape race by. She wanted to chase it. She couldn't do that. Her mum wanted to see her, and she wanted to see her mum. She didn't trust Kya though.

The train kept going, rattling along the track, oblivious to the minds inside. Addison looked over at the man in the opposite isle. He had headphones in, a blank expression. Addison wondered what he was thinking.

Maybe he was travelling to see an old friend, patiently waiting for the time to pass. Maybe they'd reunite at the station, running to each other in a mess of hugs and rushed words they were deprived of saying. Or maybe they'd just wave to each other and sit down, discussing something as if no time had passed.

Or maybe he wasn't going to someone, but away. Maybe he'd recently been through a divorce and was moving away to somewhere quieter to clear his head. No, she was actually just recalling her mother's reasoning for moving. This man looked too young to be going through a divorce, but maybe there'd been a particularly messy breakup. Maybe. Life was full of maybes.

Addison stared at him. He was probably just on his way home from work.

Was her mum home from work yet? Addison had a key, so it wouldn't matter either way; hopefully she'd get to greet her when she got there though. She rested her hand on her chin, thinking.

If her mum wasn't home from work yet, she could go see the neighbours. One particular neighbour came to mind. She remembered when her and Kya had talked about it.

"I met a guy," Addison had said out of the blue. Kya out down her pen and looked at her with excitement.

"You met a guy?" Kya had repeated.

"His name is Santiago."

"Sounds Spanish."

"He is Spanish."

"That explains it then."

Addison had laughed lightly and placed a hand on the back of her neck. She was blushing. Kya asked her how she met him; Addison said they were neighbours. Kya mentioned something about it being like a book she had read recently, but Addison didn't really remember that part.

Santiago had turned up randomly once when Addison visited her mum. He must have moved in with his family during the week, which would be why Addison missed the moving truck. Her mum didn't say much about it first, Addison guessed it must have slipped her mind. He came over on the Sunday, after having seen Addison going into her house the day before. Santiago said it was good to have another guy his age on the street. Addison didn't have the heart to correct him.
