POV: Grey
“Erza, I'm sure that it's fine, he probably just wants to search for Igneel.” I had been using the same argument to convince the stubborn girl of my friend's innocence for an hour.
“Grey, Master asked us to do this, besides, if you're right, we'll just have confirmation of it.”
“Think Erza, the kid hasn't seen his dad in over seven years, I'm certain that he wants to see him again..”
“Grey, Natsu has looked for him for years, he wouldn't just head off and not tell us why.”
“Maybe he's embarrassed about loving his dad so much...”
“Not likely.” then there was a big, awkward, silence for ten minutes as we trudged along the streets, “He's gonna leave, isn't he?”Erza said somberly, “Nothing I can say or do will stop him. I even probably encouraged him to leave in the first place...”
“What? You never told me about this! You ENCOURAGED him to leave?”
“I suppose I could have, last night when he made Lucy cry her little heart out I told him some horrible things that I didn't mean, and that most likely weren't even true.”
“Like what? Natsu's not the type to let harsh words get to him.” I replied, but really, if she had mentioned Lucy or Igneel, he had the capability to get really pissed.
“I told him that none of us cared about him, not even Igneel, I told him that he was raised by a dragon because his parents hated him and abandoned him.” She looked solemnly at the cobbled street, “I even told him that I wanted him to leave and never let me see him again.”
“You have to be kidding, Erza you literally hit every mental pressure point he has.”
“I know...” she thought for a bit, “Now he's been brutally wounded.” She stared me in the eyes, “It doesn't take a genius to put the pieces together.”
“I think you just called me dumb.” I I extended my arm to punch her playfully in the shoulder, but she grabbed my wrist and twisted it to a rather horrifying angle until I yelped in pain.
“Think about it, Idiot.” she said coldly, entirely without emotion.
“If Natsu makes up his mind he can be really stubborn.” I slipped out of my shirt and looked at Erza for a moment. “You're sure that he's in league with that Rothe woman, aren't you?”
“Yes.” The red head turned to me and fixed a steely gaze, “How could he turn down someone who showed such interest in increasing his power? Not to mention that she crushed almost all of us with little effort, she's the only one who could beat him that badly, therefore it's the only logical way he could have been wounded so badly.”
I gritted my teeth, she was right.
POV: Lucy
“Morning, sleepy head.” I poked Natsu's cheek, watching him scrunch up his face, he sniffed and batted my finger away. It was pleasing to see that he had gone back to wearing his vest and pants, the leather and jeans look didn't suit him at all.
“Wake up.” I reached for his scarf and gingerly, cautiously slid it from his neck.
“Gah!” Natsu shouted, springing from the bed with one hand up and the other frantically clutching at the chest of his shirt. “What?!” He gasped, fist tightening.
“Are you alright? Oh my god, what's wrong?” I asked, quickly holding out his scarf to him.
“It's, just...” Natsu's body tensed once more, then he grabbed out viciously for the muffler, and quickly relaxed, looking like a wave as all his muscles loosened. “It was just a bad dream.” He said in wonder, as much to himself as to me.
