Dragon Slayer (Nalu short story)

Dragon slayer

It was a cloudy day, the plume of clouds curling up in the air. The town is abandoned with blinking streets light and dry dirty muddy leaves on the pathways like no one has been in the town for months. Natsu Dragneel, is a dragon which can turn into his human form who was saved and adopted by Igneel Dragneel. Natsu is an average looking guy in his 20s, his hair, salmon pink and lustrous with locks falling over his eyes. As Natsu is walking down the pathway while avoiding the dry leaves, wondering why he's here instead of his bedroom.

One of the dry leaves got stuck on his shoes, he bended down to remove it and as he looked up, he saw a girl with golden blond hair with a silver sword tainted with red blood standing at the ledge on the top of a building as if she's committing suicide. His eyes widen and quickly ran up to the building to save her. "Don't ..." he scream as he reached the top stretching his hands out to grab her.

She fell.

Everything went black.

Natsu woke up finding himself sitting in bed with his hands up. He was breathing heavily and sweating, wondering about the dream he just had. A vision? or his past self? he wondered. He shook the feelings aside and got ready for his day. Natsu Dragneel studies in University of Fairy Tail in Magnolia one of the top school in the world. He lives alone in a studio apartment that his foster parent rented for him. Natsu was waiting for his food to cook, and he had a flashback.

A kid was thrown into the cement wall with a large force, he was surrounded by a group of kids who screwed their face in disgust and was glaring at him. People who walked past the kid didn't want to help him because, they didn't want to get involved with him .They all knew that he could lose control anytime and kill everyone. He always thought, Why am i alive? Why am i different from the others? Why can't i be normal? One day a man came, the boy looked up with bruises and blood on his face and the man gave him a kind smile and said "Come with me. You will be my son and your name will be Natsu Dragneel."

It was a rainy day, Natsu is walking down the road with his umbrella on his way to school. He just finished a conversation with his foster dad on his mobile phone. Natsu saw a shadow of a girl beside him, it looks like it came on top of him. His eye widened and drop his umbrella to look at the top of the building.

He saw a girl.

This scene is like the scene in his dream from a week ago and he remembered that he couldn't save her. Without a second thought, he ran up the 8 stories high building as fast as he could and when he opened the door, he was painting and was exhausted from running up 8 flight of stairs. The girl turned around with tears in her eyes

"Have you ever thought about dying?" she asked.

Then she was suddenly pulled by a hands and fell beside the guy. Their eyes met. "What are u doing! standing there, you would have died!" he shouted looking straight into her eyes. She was surprised that he raise his voice at her "I was just thinking and it's non of your business." she said with a low voice breaking the eye contact.

It was awkward for both of them and Natsu said "I'm Natsu, Natsu Dragneel" breaking the silent. "Lucy, Lucy Heartfilia" she said with low voice avoiding eye contact and shook hands with him.

Lucy Heartfillia is in her 20s, her hair, long and golden blond. Her bright hazel brown eye framed with long lashes and below is a baby pink lip.

Natsu was in his class doing his revision for the test and the teacher, Mrs Mavis announced "We have a new student today, please welcome her". The girl walked in.

Natsu doesn't really care about girls or new students, he just cared about getting good grades. "Good morning, my name is Lisanna Strauss" she said. "Please take your sit beside Liam" said Mrs Mavis, Lisanna proceed to do as ask. "Sorry i'm late!" a girl shouted when Mrs Mavis was just about to start teaching. "And you are?"

"I'm Lucy Heartfillia a transfer student from University of Stars ". When Natsu heard the name Lucy, he had a flashback about the girl that he saved from committing suicide a few days ago. When he looked up away from his book, he caught her smiling at him and he gave her a warm smile.
He can't stop thinking about her name. It always echo through his mind when she says her name "Lucy, Lucy Heartfillia..."

In a dark office with only one light was switched on which is the lamp beside the armchair of the girl and she was facing a man."I..I can't kill him." she stuttered. "Why?" asked the man. "I...I just can't" she said with her hung low, her face showed distress and as she close her eyes, tear drops slowly rolled down her face.

Slap.

She fell on the floor with hair falling on her face and tears rushing down her face wetting the carpet, her face have a hand mark and her eyes were puffy red.

"I told you not to get too close to him. It's already been a few months now and i'm tired of waiting, i want this son of mine dead by tomorrow sunrise or else I won't help to cure your mom and she will be dead!" he shouted at her with anger in his eyes.

"He killed my beloved wife, now i want him dead! And you Heartfilla, you are a professional dragon slayer. Why is it so hard to kill him, when u killed over a hundreds of them!" he shouted his lungs out at her.

Bang.

He furiously walked out of his office leaving the girl crying alone in the dark slamming the door behind him that tilted the name Igneel Dragneel.

The rain pour down mercilessly upon the heart of the town pounding on the rooftop and turning the road unto a river with muddy water. Natsu and Lucy is under a bus stop waiting for the pouring rain to stop, it was dark because of the midnight darkness.

Tonight is the night Lucy thought.

The sound of thunder seams to crack the air and lightning cut the inky dark night as if behind the dark canvas was a brilliant light just waiting to flood through any crack no matter how small. Both their clothes were soaked with rainwater and drops of the water dripping down from the corner of their clothes and rainwater were running down from their shorts to their thighs and the calf.

Natsu started "Hey i was-" he was cut off by a scream of pain.'ahhh' Lucy drop to the ground holding her head in pain, "Kill him... By sunrise... Or else" the word keep repeating in her head until it stop. She looked up and saw Natsu, his face was filled with concern.

Lucy ran into the rain. She was suddenly stop by someone holding her hand, and she was pulled into a hug. She sobbed in his chest and rain was pouring mercilessly upon the couple.

When her sobbing quiet down, "Luce" Natsu started and she listen quietly with a hand slowly pulling out her knife from her pocket "I love you" he confessed smiling. "I'm...sorry Natsu" she whispered, tears were rolling down her eyes

'Stab'. Can a poison knife kill a dragon?
