*I took heavy inspiration on the song "How to Save a Life", by The Fray, to write this story (the SONG, not the videoclip)*Hello people, hope you enjoy this story! I'm sorry I'll have to give you a small spoiler for the sake of you readers: this story has a really sad ending. If you think you are extremely emotional, I recommend not reading the story. If you are hardcore like me, and never spill a tear when reading books or watching movies or series... Go ahead and read it!
Also, English is not my first language, so sorry if I make any mistakes.
I'll try my best.Enjoy!

3rd personIt's night in the city. The air is cold and the sky is cloudy. Thin drops of rain fell to the ground and thunder roared, signalizing the start of a huge storm. Looking at the town like this, it seemed normal, as if nothing special or even relevant was happening.
That's one funny thing about big cities. That huge gathering of buildings close together, each one carrying lives and stories. An infinite amount of stories can come from just one building, if you pay attention.
This story happens in this normal city, in one of many gray and cold buildings, exactly in this stormy night. This story might or might not have happened in your "real life", but the events are similar to many others that happen everyday around the world. They can be happening right now, they can be happening in your town, they can be happening in your building.
It starts in an ordinary apartment, nor far nor close to downtown, where a young man named Jefferson Abbie lived. He might seem like an ordinary and boring person, but inside his mind, and even in his life, there are things happening. Things that he might regret. Things that he might not regret. But one thing I'll tell you: Jeff could never imagine what strange things were about to happen, on this stormy night, in one of many cold buildings of a normal town...
3rd person (kinda Jeff's POV)
Jefferson looked outside his rooms window. He could see and hear the heavy drops of rain falling from the clouds, coming down and hitting the glass. There was a small broken edge on the window, leaving a hole just big enough for some thin blows of freezing wind to enter Jeff's already cold bedroom.
The room was a bit small, but Jeff was used to living in smaller places. Like his old room in his grandparents' house. Yes, before moving into this apartment, Jeff used to live with his grandparents and his sister, Melissa. She still lived there, but it was in a really far away part of the city, and they could only meet once a week or even twice a month. Melissa was still on high school, and her brother worked, meaning their lives were really busy.
This whole mess started ten years before, when they were still kids, Melissa was 5 and Jeff was 12. Their mother had died in a plane crash, while returning from a business trip, and after that, their father grew mad with grief, and turned into a potential psychopath. He practically abandoned his children and spent all day and night out, wandering, drinking, watching people, drinking, getting mad, drinking, drinking, drinking and getting drunk to the point when he turned violent and killed many people without realizing it. He was arrested, and both Jeff and Melissa moved in with their grandparents, more specifically, their mother's parents. The old couple had turned bitter and distant after their daughter's death. It was like they blamed the children themselves for the sad event, and cut off all direct contact with them. This caused the siblings to grow up even closer and closer to each other.
