Chapter 1-Adie's P.O.V.
It was bitter cold in London this morning as I slid into a thick, maroon coat to walk to school. I headed out the door, grabbing my school bag and a gray beanie to tug over my auburn hair along the way.
"Mom? I'm leaving for school! Love you!" I called into the cold, dark flat, already halfway out the door.
"Well? Get on then or you'll be late!" my mother replied sharply.
"Sorry," I sighed under my breath as I pulled on my hat and left, closing the door behind me. I was never good enough for my mother. She constantly called me ugly, and stupid, and told me that nobody cared. To be honest, it was hard not to let it get to me. But it got to me, and I always tried so hard to please her, but I never could.
I rifled through my bag as I walked down the street, searching for my glasses as I journeyed to school. Once I found them, I removed them from my bag along with a book on psychology. I had already begun to study psychology even though I was only 15. I had nothing to look forward to but university, so I studied hard and consistently.
As I continued down the street reading, I ran into a man, about 35, carrying a large black folder.
"Excuse me, sir, I'm so sorry," I stammered, already beginning to walk away.
"Wait, love," he said, touching my shoulder. I turned towards him expectantly.
"I'm Matt Consuelos," he added as we shook hands. "Listen, I'm a photographer and I'm scheduled to shoot One Direction on Thursday. Have you heard of them?" he asked. I was a huge One Direction fan, and Liam was my favorite. He seemed funny and outgoing but still responsible, and he was so talented and fit.
"Umm, maybe," I replied jokingly.
"Great! So anyway, I'm short a model and I was wondering if you could fill in?" he inquired.
"I'd love to!"I exclaimed happily.
"Wonderful! You've just saved me a lot of trouble," he laughed, winking. "Do you need to call your parents and ask their permission?" I quickly dialed my mum's number.
"Mum? Can I do a photoshoot with One Direction on Thursday?" I asked excitedly.
"I don't care," she responded apathetically and hung up. I sighed a bit.
"It's fine!" I chirped to Matt.
"Wonderful! Here's my card, give me a call after school today, yeah?"
"For sure!" I replied. I went to school that day and called Matt directly afterwards. My photoshoot with One Direction was officially happening.
