After the hugs and hellos were spun out of the way, the group excluded Quill as they wandered towards another well lit hallway. It had stone walls and gas lanterns stuck to the tall roofs of the hallway. Quill, confused as always, aimlessly followed behind before North noticed her.
"Oh!" North gasped, waving towards Quill, motioning for her to follow. "Come on!" She smiled and giddily skipped towards the great room the hallway lead to.
Quill curiously followed her command, and lead herself to an enormous room, it was cozy and welcoming, with pillows spread about the floor, acting as chairs set under the large, round mahogany table that set in the center of the room. A large brick fireplace that was hung with the mud-caked potato sack Jake and Madi had returned with was flaming. With red and purple flames.
Quill hopped on the bandwagon as the rest of them took a seat. She sat between Madi and North. Quill then withheld the millions of questions that welled up inside her as the rest of the group went into conversation.
"So, how were the faeries?" Asked Cy, as she scooped a handful of almonds that had been previously placed on the middle of the large, round table in a small bowl.
"Well.." Jake looked reluctantly at Madi with sad puppy-eyes. She rolled her eyes in response.
"Jake, I'm not gonna finish your sentences. Stop trying to show off to.. Um.." She glanced over at Quill, an apologetic look plastered on her face. Her eyes, just as Quill had noticed, were round and soft. A look of innocence yet toughness filled them. Experience and pained painted them, the color a pleasant mixture of forest green and mint blue. Her smile was alike North's, yet it lacked the dimples. It was filled with well-knowingness, as if she had survived the apocalypse yet was cursed to never tell her tale. She was an old soul. A very old soul.
"Quill," Quill smiled in return.
"Quill Burrow." North nodded along.
Quill's glance shifted to North's face. It was filled with youth. Her eyes were tilted, almost Asian, the dark brown-- almost black -- color filled her iris, along with wonder and curiosity, yet they were sharp, fierce, and showed a sign of stubbornness. She was young, and her face seems to crave a serving of knowledge. It glanced around the room, scanning anything and everything, turning for even an inch of new information. Fawn colored freckled scattered her tan skin, under her eyes and just sprinkled on her nose. Her lips were full and dark, and it formed a perfect rounded smirk which was welcoming and seemed to drag you into her little fantasy world. Who was she kidding, this whole world was a fantasy to Quill. Then her stare drifted over to Cypress, who was across from Quill. Her round, plump face differed from her extreme thinness of her body. Her round cheeks were constantly blushing, her nose small and perfectly upturned. Her ears were sharp, sharper than North's yet smaller. Her eyes were small yet wide. A bit darker than lime green, and they were skimmed with questions. They skimmed everything, sucking it up and memorizing it. They were amazing to watch, ping-ponging from picture to picture. Her lips were thin and perfectly pink. Almost insanely perfectly pink. Too perfectly pink. Questions that could no longer be contained slowly became slurring out her mouth, unknowingly, like a steady stream.
"Who are you all? What are you all? Am I safe? What is this place exactly? Why am I down here? When did magicks become a thing? How old are you all? Why did you guys choose me?"
Poor Pike laughed along with Jake as North giggled and Cypress sighed.
Madi patted Quill on the back.
"This is going to be a long explanation. Hold onto your hats.."
