The Star: A Christmas Tradition
Bethany: "Is your house on fire, Clark?"
Clark: "No, Aunt Bethany, those are Christmas lights."
-The National Lampoons Christmas Vacation ⛄🎄🎁
The village was alive with excitement and joy. The Holiday season was upon us and the streets were flooded with its usual visitors. People was clothed in thick winter coats and gloves. They all smiled and gave their greetings as they past each other.
As Sasuke and I walked through the village, hand in hand, our fellow citizens gave us a happy wave of the hand. I looked at my boyfriend of almost year now and smiled. Happiness flooded through me when he looked at me and smiled back. I still couldn't believe that he was all mine.
"Hey, Sakura-chan! Teme!" Naruto yelled from a venders booth. "Come here! You gotta see this."
I laughed and pulled Sasuke along with me to our overly excited teammate.
"What is it, dobe?" Sasuke asked, narrowing his eyes.
I looked down at the venders booth, which was filled with beautifully designed glass blown necklaces. They were hanging from pretty ribbons, entwined like silk layers.
"Aren't these pretty, Sakura-chan?" Naruto questioned, fingering a blue glass heart hanging from silver ribbon. "Do you think Hinata would like one?"
"Yeah," I touched his shoulder. "She'll love it, it's really pretty."
"I'll take it!" Naruto smiled at the older man, who took the jewelry and put it into a white box decorated with a red now and ribbon. "It's our second Christmas together, but I still never know what to get her."
"Same here," I glanced at Sasuke, who was staring off in the distance. "I don't even have a clue what to get Sasuke and its our first Christmas together!"
"You don't have to get me anything," Sasuke replied. "I already have enough."
"But I want to get you something!" I squeezed his hand.
"Yeah," Naruto nervously laughed. "It doesn't get easier either."
"Damn," I laughed. "Are you and Hinata gonna come to the Christmas party tomorrow night?"
"Of course!" Naruto nodded, tucking Hinata's present away in his jacket pocket. "I come every year and so will Hinata. But I have to get to the Hokage Tower, see you guys tomorrow!"
"Bye." I said, as he hurried off through the village.
I glanced back over at Sasuke who was still staring away from me.
"Hey," I tugged on his arm. "Lets go get some hot chocolate."
"I don't like chocolate," He mumbled, walking down the path with me.
"I know that," I said. "Just drink some hot tea or something."
"Fine." He gave up and let me lead the way to the coffee shop.
The tune of Jingle Bells rang in the air and the scent of coffee beans filled my nostrils. The room was elaborately decorated in Christmas lights and garland, making the place more alive with the festivities. People huddled around the fire and couches laughing and sipping away at their drinks. Sasuke and I took our usual seats, next to the large window where a Christmas tree stood for the time being. I snuggled up next to him and brought the steaming cup to my mouth.
"Sakura," Sasuke began. "What do you want for Christmas?"
"You wearing nothing but a big red bow," I joked.
