By next morning, the snow that had begun in the night had turned into a blizzard. After the first two classes, I went to lunch it was noisy in the Great Hall; Finch-Fletchley and Nearly Headless Nick had been attacked and Harry Potter had been the one caught with them. I left to head to the Potions room but on the way I saw Gryffindor, he was strutting down the corridor, his robe flowing behind him. He was still limping a bit but not as badly as he was last night, I kept walking.

The double attack on Finch-Fletchley and Nearly Headless Nick turned what had been nervousness into real panic. Curiously, it was Nearly Headless Nick’s fate that seemed to worry people most. What could possibly do that to a ghost, people asked each other; what terrible power could harm someone who was already dead? There was almost a stampede to book seats on the Hogwarts Express so that students could go home for Christmas. Draco was staying and Crabbe and Goyle, who always did whatever Draco did, had singed up to stay over the holidays too. So as far as I know it was just going to be the four of us staying in Slytherin. I knew that Harry, Ron and Hermione were staying, so Harry would have to put up with people skirting around him in the corridors, as though he was about to sprout fangs or spit poison.

Fred and George, however, found all this very funny. They went out of their way to march ahead of Harry down the corridors, shouting, “Make way for the heir of Slytherin, seriously evil wizard coming through …”

Percy was deeply disapproving of this behaviour.

“It is not a laughing matter,” he said coldly.

“Oh, get out of the way, Percy,” said Fred. “Harry’s in a hurry.”

“Yeah, he’s nipping off to the Chamber of Secrets for a cup of tea with his fanged servant,” said George, chortling. But their antics seemed to be aggravating Draco, who looked increasingly sour each time he saw them at it.

At last the term ended, and a silence as deep as the snow descend on the grounds as the snow on the grounds descended on the castle. It was peaceful and I enjoyed the fact that I had the entire girl’s side to myself and I wouldn’t have to deal with Pansy. I had also heard that Fred and George where staying too, so that would be good if I had time to see them.

Christmas morning dawned, cold and white. I could feel my snake coiling around my wrist and tugging at my arm to wake me up; I smiled and slowly opened my eyes. My snake turned into a black python with blue marks on his back and brought up my presents onto my bed, I smiled at him and reached the first present was from Remus; it was a spell book showing more advanced spells and he had even put little side notes with the spells about how to make the spell more effective, Braden had gone to Romania with his Uncle and sent me a picture of him and a dragon and a long letter telling me how he was. I was surprised to see that Flint had sent me a Quidditch book at well as a list of things I should practise, last was a card from Oliver saying:

good flying you made a really good Keeper; we’ll talk more about it after the Holidays. Merry Charismas Oliver.

I smiled and put the presents on my desk near Amora’s diary and got changed into a black long sleeved shirt and pants and wore the navy blue jumper that Fred and George gave me last year. My snake turned back into the smaller green tree snake and sat on my shoulder, down stairs in the common-room Draco, Crabbe and Goyle were sitting in the couches. Draco was wearing a new jumper he got; they looked at me when I entered and Draco got up and walked over to where I was standing .

“Merry Christmas Mora.” He said with a smile, I smiled back. “Close your eyes and hold out your hand.”

I was shocked but did what I was told and held out my right hand, I felt something cold and hard slip around my wrist and I waited to see what it was .
