We are told that there are stars inside of us
That the blood in our veins has the same elements as the lights in the sky
That we have been around since the beginning of time itself and even before that
That we live over and over again, as we decompose and our elements become part of someone else
//
I know I love you
I really do
And try as hard as I might I can't
Look at you without having sparks
Erupt in my stomach
Because butterflies are too calm
For your bright eyes
//
Some people believe that we are here for a reason
That time stops for a few seconds when we arrive
And that Fate has chosen a path for us that we can not change
Everyone we meet is part of our life for a reason
But if there's so many stars in the sky
And so many living beings
Why would you or I be special
//
If depression is a "chemical imbalance"
Does that mean I have too many stars in my body
Or too few?
//
Galaxies are gorgeous
It's like someone tossed paint across the jet black nothingness
And scattered sparkles of stars across the surface
Allowing light and life and love
Yes, galaxies are gorgeous
//
I've been thinking
While my brain can process anything besides your diamond eyes
About stars
About our bodies
And how I wish they were entwined
Tight as unfrayed rope
With zero space for galaxies in between us
Our elements colliding, combining
//
But when stars collide, don't they explode?
