The weekend ended too early. It went by to fast. It always does. We ran out of butter on Sunday. We really need to keep more butter in the house. A lot more.
I pulled up my hoodie and walked on the bus. I sat in the middle of the bus and plugged in my earbuds. Luck, by American Authors started playing. I smoked, remembering how this was Melody's new favorite song now.
I'm at school. Where r u? Did you miss the bus or something? ~Melody
Nope, I'm not the bus now. Maybe it's just slower. It's a rainy day. ~Me
So? ~Melody
Idk, just a guess. ~Me
What song are you listening to now? ~Melody
How did you know I was listening to music? ~Me
Because you said you always do on the bus. ~Melody
Oh ~Me
It's Luck, by American Authors ~Me

Man do you like emojis ~Me
Yup, I'll let you go back to your music. C u soon! ~Melody
I closed my phone and just listened to music. All American Authors, just if you wanted to know.
The bus finally got to school. I pulled on my hoodie and ran through the school doors. But not before getting socked from the rain.
I walked down the hallways, as other students hurried around to their lockers. My gym shoes made squeaky noises as I walked on the tile floor.
Melody was already waited at my locker. Her phone in her hands. Her hair braided down her shoulder. My locker was already opened. I dumped all my stuff inside.
"Did you bring a snack for today's movie?" Melody asked. I stopped walking. What snack? What movie?
"Well I see you forgot. We did something good, I forgot what and we earned ourselves a fun day. We have advisory and then we watch the movie for the rest of the day. We were supposed to bring a snack." Melody said. I had no snack.
"Which tog don't have. Don't worry by mom packed us a whole lunch. Popcorn, chocolate, and apple juice. Weird combo, but hey. Food is food." Melody said. All I needed was a stick of butter to that pile, and it would be the perfect snack.
What? A boy likes his butter.
We sat through a boring advisory. As we learned about healthy fruits and vegetables. Yeah! Not. After 45 minutes of that doom we finally got to watch the movie!
It's a movie called Bridge to Terabithia. The kids in the class laughed on how childish they were acting, but all Melody and I were thinking on how we can make that happen in my woods. How we could make our own kingdom.
"That was a really good movie." Melody said at the end of the movie, as she wiped the tears from her face. The bell Had just rung and everyone was packing up. "I can't believe Leslie dies. I just can't." Melody said, wiping more years from her face. I said nothing but nodded along. I down usually cry during movies, but I almost did during that one.
"Poor Jesse. He must be so sad without his only friend." Melody said. I thought hard about those words. Melody was right. Geez, I would feel broken if Melody died. I don't think I could ever make a friend again.
Nether of us said anything, until we had to part ways.
"See you tomorrow." Melody said. I waved goodbye and walked to my own bus.
I walked on to the bus. I flopped down on the first open seat I found. I opened up my playlist and shuffled it. I plugged in my earbuds. I started smiling when the song Believer came up.
