in a shining lightfilled city overlooking the water,a girl stood on the bridge. she gazed down into the river that seemed so far away, as tears fell down down down into her barely distinguishable image bellow. with a sigh, she turned and walked away without looking back. if she had, she would have noticed that the image of herself had stayed in the water screaming at her, but the sound was drowned out by the agressive sounds of the eager goers of Portland. this girl had to go home to the heckticness of her deranged family.
the image in the water stayed, leaking out and searching for her. her soul was within the water, and if she wasn't so empty she ould have realized it. as she left an air of uneasiness followed. the sound of her shoes was nothing compared to the city beside her. her heart beat in her ears and she felt her pulse become steady again. the air of uneasiness had always been there, there was no adjustment period for her. she followed the same broken path as always. breath like smoke escaped her as she sighed. she watched the cloud of her breath disappear, envying it in a way. it could vanish and not a soul but herself would notice. the clack of her heels on the street brought her back to the moment. she was standing in front of a crosswalk, so she stabbed the button quickly and waited. after several cars passed by, there was a lul, but still she couldn't go. a small green car was coming, and the image appeared behind hereyes again slowly coming into focus. herself, drowned, shot, hit by a car by her own choice. the decision lay infront of her. the choice was her own.
she shook her head. what was wrong with her lately? she walked onward, steppng over a jagged root of a tree. wait, what? a tree in the middle of the city? echo suddenly freaked.
"hello?"
"hello?" a voice echoed back at her. it was not her own. echo backed up and screamed in alarm when her foot nudged something slippery and warm. she whirled around and screamed again.
there was a dead body. she tried to grab her arm with her hand, but instead she felt the familiar slice of a knife. WTF? she glanced down and saw herself covered in blood a knife in hand and her best friend at her feet. this time when she screamed, she didn't stop until she slipped into unconsiousness.
i dont know why this felt accurate. i dont know why this seemed normal to me, why i wasn't freaking out. she glanced down again, taking everything in. that was her friend. the friend she hadn't talked to since things went down hill.
and there was her, knife in her perfectly poised hand. there was something different about her own image. as if she had suddenly become souless.
wheb sge awoke she was back in the city. it was as if she had simply dazed out. she knew it was more than that but she let it go and carried on.
echo walked down the street and looked into a puddle. there was no reflection.
good, she thought, who needs a soul anyway?
then she laughed. a crazy manic laugh, and swished off down the street.
