I scratched my neck.

"Whats wrong?"

I looked up, then at the ground.

"Tick," I said. "It itches."

"Scratching it even more makes it worse."

He said. This time I looked him in the eye.

"What'd you know?, and why'd you call me here?" Is what I said.

"Lemme see your neck." He says dodging my question.

"Why'd you call me here?" I ask again. He moves my collar.

"You lied." He whispers. "Oh."

"But your neck is kinda pink though. Did you scratch it?"

"No."

On my 4th birthday,

When I woke up, around 2 am, when I fell off the top bunk bed, I Ticked. I didn't know why but I did. I thought it was cool. Minnie, My older sister told me that it wasn't. She said I have,

"Tourette's Syndrome."

She said it in a creepy way to make me scared.

Minnie said, "Tourette's syndrome is like the disorder or disease that makes you tick," Then she looks me in the eye and says that it's not cool.

She said, "Tourette's syndrome has a problem with the nervous system that causes people to make sudden movements or sounds, called tics, that they can't control."

She looked at me harder. "H-Have you ever ticked before?" She asks.

"I don't remember."

"Go back to sleep."

So I try.

"The more I think about it, the more I feel like I have." I whispered to Minnie.

She doesn't respond. Maybe she's asleep.

On my fourteenth birthday I wished that I'd have a normal life. I'm guessing that It worked. Maybe...I don't know. In first period, A guy named Pedro sits next to me. He says, "Highschool gets you messed up." I just stared. He says he liked my turtleneck. I only shrugged. In my mind, I also wished that Pedro would just shut up. My teacher called me up. He said he wanted to see my skills. He asked what level I'm on, and I just stared.

"Y." I said. And then I thought about my sister.

What if that syndrome comes back again? He smiles. "The highest in this class is Pedro. At level Z, I mean." I look back. "I know he doesn't seem much," The teacher continues "But he's a great student." Pedro smiles at me, and I looked back. And then I thought, is Minnie still at the door? And I looked back again. She was. I actually thought she wouldn't wait for me. Minnie was staring into the classroom. I mouthed, "Please come in." She grins, then pulls on the knob of the door. She walks in like she owns the place. Everyone was attracted to her, except for me. Even my teacher. Minnie is 3 years older than me. And I thought of her as a total diva. She had all the looks. The face and everything. I call her Minnie-me. She doesn't really mind. I smiled at her. "Do you mind if I get to go see my little bro every few weeks?" She asks ruffling my hair. "I don't mind." He responds.

----------------------

I look at Minnie. Minnie grins a little.

She watches my expression.

"What?" I said, looking at her.

"You didn't tick." She grins.

We were walking home.

"Seems like everyone likes you." She yawned.
