There hadn't been much peace and quiet around the Star Darlings lately. The missions to Wishworld were undoubtedly the best part of being an SD, but between the training and regular schoolwork, after the novelty had worn off it was starting to get more tiresome. Still, to Scarlet this had been the best school year thus far. However it would have made it even better if she and her roommate Leona would actually get along.

Scarlet couldn't quite wrap her her mind around why it always seemed like her and Leona were the only two roommates who hardly ever even managed as long as one starday without getting into an argument about something. At the Starling Academy roommates were said to be chosen to both complement and challenge eachother. However in their case only the latter seemed to apply.

Scarlet knew she wasn't exactly the easiest to get along with, but she never made it difficult on purpose. She didn't touch Leona's things the way Leona constantly did despite being told not to. She didn't say bad things about her without a solid reason, yet Leona never seemed to miss a chance to do just that. In fact it seemed like Leona liked everyone better than her. In fact, no, it was worse. Based on her behaviour Leona really hated her. That is how it had always been like between them.

Before her first mission Scarlet was temporarily kicked out of the Star Darlings, which had almost driven her to the point where she wanted to give up and leave the school. Luckily it turned out to be a mistake, and now she was glad that she was still there. But in that short time she had gone back to being a regular student Scarlet had remembered how little she had to get excited about without the SD responsibilities. School was always easy for her due to being homeschooled before attending Starling Academy, as well her natural abilities. Being an SD ment that she was finally challenged.

It wasn't the only thing that Scarlet liked about being a Star Darling though. Despite her loner tendencies, she really did hope that being a part of a group would help her make friends. It was the one thing that she had never been good at, and being left out of Star Darlings private classes and missions brought back memories of the countless moments when being an outsider simply got lonely. It still didn't make her particularly close with any of the other girls, but it was still progress. And now that it was certain she belonged there they had to work together anyway.

Scarlet's Star-Zapp beeped. She quickly read through the message about professor Ursa's classes being cancelled for the week. "I wonder what that's about." she thought. She had gotten up early and decided to spend her morning in the Lightning Lounge. She preferred it when there weren't as many people around. That too is a likely cause for her difficulties with making friends. One can't really avoid being social AND create close bonds with people at the same time.
