Ship: I guess it's a little bit Herc/Angelica (Hercelica?)

Warning: Racism, police brutality

Prompt: Hercules and Angelica decide to go for a walk in the evening and a cop comes up to them because they're making him "suspicious."

I've been getting really frustrated with police violence against black people lately and so, like everything else, I decided to write about it.

POV: Third person

"You wanna go walk around the neighborhood?" Angelica asked Hercules. "This party is getting a little crazy."

Hercules nodded and offered his arm to Angelica. He may have been big and sturdy, but he was gentle and soft.

She laughed and linked her arm with his and they walked out of Alex and John's house and onto the dimly lit sidewalk. The neighborhood was a nice suburban area. The kind that was full of rich white people. Alex and John were probably the only people of color living on the street and their neighbors noticed this. But as they walked around, Hercules and Angelica didn't think anything of it.

The two were in the middle of a conversation about what they would name their first-born child when a cop car pulled up next to them and parked. A tall, white man emerged from the vehicle and Angelica instinctively reached for her phone in her pocket and clutched onto Hercules's arm tighter.

"Is there a problem, Officer?" Hercules asked as calmly as he could. Meanwhile, Angelica pulled her phone out of her pocket and began to record the situation.

"I'm gonna need to see both of your ID's," The officer said,  venom in his voice.

Angelica cleared her throat. "What are we under suspicion of?"

"I need to see your ID's." The officer repeated.

Again, Angelica spoke up, "Sir, we do not have to show you our ID's unless we are under suspicion of committing a crime. What are we under suspicion of?"

The Officer looked at her with a nasty glare. "This is a family neighborhood and you're lurking."

Angelica scoffed. "So that's our crime? Walking while black on a public sidewalk?"

"Don't make this a race thing," The officer spoke, still calm.

"Can you tell me honestly that you would have stopped us if we were white?" Hercules asked.

The officer suddenly grabbed Hercules by the arm and twisted him around, bringing out his handcuffs.

Angelica felt panic rising in her chest. She wouldn't let Hercules become another hashtag. Her voice rose to a yell, "SIR, WHAT ARE YOU DETAINING HIM FOR?"

"He's resisting arrest!" The officer yelled, slamming Hercules onto the ground.

Hercules cried out in pain.

"YOU'RE HURTING HIM!" Angelica screamed, "WHAT IS HE BEING ARRESTED FOR? WE HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING WRONG! SIR, I AM GETTING THIS ALL ON CAMERA AND YOU NEED TO LET HIM GO!"

The officer pulled his gun out of his holster and put his knee onto Hercules's back, pointing the gun at his head.

"OFFICER, HE IS UNARMED! HE IS HANDCUFFED ON THE GROUND AND YOU ARE POINTING YOUR LOADED GUN AT HIS HEAD! WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?" Angelica began to sob.

"SHUT UP!" The officer yelled.

"Please don't shoot me. I do not have a weapon. Please don't shoot me." Hercules attempted to remain calm, but Angelica could see how scared he was.

"I'm calling 911," Angelica sobbed. She flipped the camera to show her crying face. "I have to stop recording to call 911 but I wanna say something first. Tonight I have to call police to stop the police from shooting another unarmed black man. This is what our country has come to. The people who are supposed to protect us are killing us. It needs to stop. Please help us and make it stop. No justice, no peace, no racist police." She stopped the recording and dialed 911.

The officer seemed to see she was serious and put his gun away. "I have determined that the situation is safe. You're free to go." He unhandcuffed Hercules and let him stand up.

Angelica turned her camera back on. "Are you kidding me? I just started to call 911 and he said that we're free to go now." She pointed the camera at him. "What's your name?" She looked at his name tag. "Officer Reynolds? And your number?" She showed it on her camera. "Well, Officer Reynolds, you can bet your ass that this video is going all over the internet and that we will be pressing charges against your racist ass!"

"Oh, you will?" He taunted, "For what?"

"YOU ABUSED YOUR POWER AND ASSAULTED MY FRIEND! YOUR A RACIST MOTHERFUCKER AND YOU'RE THE KIND OF COP THAT MAKES EVERYONE HATE COPS! BECAUSE YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO PROTECT US AND YOU'RE KILLING US! YOU ARE MURDERING MY PEOPLE! GO TO HELL!"

Hercules put his gentle hand on her arm. "Let's go, Ang. We're lucky to be alive."

Angelica began to walk away but turned back to the cop. "You won't get away with this. I'm getting you fired." She turned the camera to herself. "Black lives matter." Then she stopped recording.
