She woke up and looked around, noticing her NES console, she walked over to it and turned it on. She played it for a few hours then turned it off and stood up. Walking over to her PC, she turned it on and withdrew the only potion in there. She sighed and looked at the time, it was time to go.

She walked down the stairs and over to her mother. Her mother turned toward her and smiled softly, a slight sadness in her voice. "... Right. All girls dream of traveling. It said so on TV. Oh, yes. Professor Oak from next door was looking for you."

She rolled her eyes and walked over to the television set, turned it on and watched whatever came on first. Her mother told her that it was time to leave. She huffed and went into the kitchen to get something to eat before leaving, then went out the front door.

"Pallet Town is a little sleepy right now, I wonder why." She said aloud to herself as she walked down the path to the flower garden. She smiled softly to herself as a butterfly landed gently on her hand then flew off, causing her to giggle.

She walked back up toward the top toward the tall grass. As she was about to leave the town, she was stopped by Professor Oak. "Is something wrong, Professor?" She asked politely.

"Hey, wait! Don't go out!" Oak ran up to her, then bent over while trying to catch his breath. "It's unsafe! Wild Pokémon live in tall grass! You need your own Pokémon for your protection. I know! Here, come with me!" As soon as he stopped talking, he had finally stopped panting.

She chuckled softly at how caring he was, he reminded her of her own father. She let him lead her toward his lab and followed him inside, where Gary was already waiting. Once she got up to where Gary stood, his impatience got the best of him and he blurted out.

"Gramps! I really dislike having to wait." Gary was trying his best not to lash out rudely, if he wanted to win over his crush's heart, he had to be polite.

Oak looked at his grandson in confusion, having completely forgotten why Gary was there, he took several minutes to remember. "Gary? Let me think... Oh, that's right, I told you to come! Just wait!"

Gary pouted as he was once again having to wait, occasionally sneaking glances at the girl standing next to him. His heart was pounding hard and his cheeks were starting to become red with embarrassment.

Professor Oak turned toward the girl in front of him and spoke softly. "Here, Candy. There are three Pokémon here."

Before he could continue speaking, she cut him off, her head tilted to the side and a look of confusion on her face. "Pokémon? There are Pokémon here? Where are they, Professor?"

Her innocent confusion made the old man burst into laughter, a huge smile on his face. "Haha! The Pokémon are held inside these Poké Balls. When I was young, I was a serious Pokémon Trainer."

Candy's face lit up with excitement and she started to jump up and down. "You used to be a Trainer?! That's so cool! I want to be a great Pokémon Trainer just like you!!"

He chuckled and gently pat her on the top of her head. "But now, in my old age, I have only these three left. You can have one. Go on, choose!"

Right before she could move, Gary grabbed her hand and pulled her close, whispering something into her ear. "If you ever need help, come find me."

Once he let her hand free, she walked over to the three Poké Balls. Gary blurted out once again before she got the chance to even lift her hand.

"Hey! Gramps! Will I be able to get a Pokémon, too?" Gary's face was still red from embarrassment as he looked away from his grandfather so he wouldn't notice. He started to squirm as he waited for the old man to answer his question.

Candy giggled cutely as she looked at Gary. "Oh, Gary, you're so silly! Of course, you'll be able to get a Pokémon! I wouldn't have the chance to battle you if you didn't get one."

He huffed as his face grew a darker shade of red, then he quickly got his composure back. "Yeah, sure."

She stood in front of the ball on the far right and wondered if this was the one she truly wanted. "I really want this one... Yes, I shall get this one!" She lifted her right hand and picked up the ball, then she looked up at Professor Oak.

"Ah! Charmander is your choice. You should raise it patiently. So, Candy, you're claiming the fire Pokémon Charmander?"

Candy squealed happily and rapidly nodded her head, blushing at how cute her new Charmander would be. "I really want him, please let me have him!"

Oak chuckled at her enthusiasm and nodded, letting her keep Charmander. "Would you like to give her a nickname, dear?"

She thought about names for a few moments before finally deciding one. "I think I'll name her Willow~ Oh, it's such a cute name!"

Gary walked over and picked the ball in the middle, receiving the Squirtle. "I will keep his name as it is. Candy! LET'S BATTLE!!"
