“So hey it’s gonna be tonight…”
I finished off the song.
“How does it sound, Seth?”
Currently we were in the recording studio at our school (our school was big on the arts).
Seth Barrow, best friend, shrugged. “I like it.”
That’s what Seth always said.
“You always say that,” I accuse.
“I always like it,” Seth smiled.
I sighed, knowing I’d never get Seth to give me his honest opinion, unless that was his honest opinion… then…
“Rain,” Seth said, placing a hand on my shoulder. “Rain Shear, it sounds fine. It’s good. I like it.”
I smile a bit at Seth’s attempts to be comforting. He is comforting, kind of, in his own way. I nod, letting him know it’s alright.
We walk out, collecting our stuff and trying to get to the main hallway where our classes were located before the bell rang.
Seth uttered a curse word under his breath as he looked up ahead, “TT’s arriving today.”
TT aka Ty Tear is an ultra famous pop star. Why and how he was going to our school I have no clue.
“Honestly why do girls like him?” I whispered to Seth as the screaming fangirls surrounded the Pinecrest High School’s new student.
Seth put his arm around my shoulder, “Could it be that he’s famous?”
I rolled my eyes, “Just by looking at him I could tell he’s a total ass.” Player. Conceited. Cocky. Many words came to mind when I saw Ty Tear. Unfortunately, part of that thought was ‘completely gorgeous.’

People needed to calm down. It was Ty Tear not George Clooney.
I needed a good distraction and what better place to go and relieve the stress than at the studio.
Seth was already there. He was getting everything ready and I started doing my vocal exercises. That’s usually how it went after school, Seth and I had fallen into an easy routine.
Seth motioned for me to start singing and I took a deep breath before diving into the song.
“I wait for the postman to bring me a letter.
I wait for the good Lord to make me feel better.
And I carry the weight of the world of my shoulders.
A family in crisis that only grows older.
Why’d you have to go?
Why’d you have to go?
Why’d you have to go?
Why’d you have to go?
Daughter to father, daughter to father.
I am broken but I am hoping.
Daughter to father, daughter to father.
I am crying, a part of me is dying, and
