How could he think such a thing? About me? Of all people, ME.
A boy sat on a curb of a street, tears streaming down his damp face. His eyes were puffy, and surely bloodshot. But then again, that comes from crying. And he has been crying. For what felt like hours.
Taking his phone out of his pocket, the boy looked at the time. It was 7pm. Dim but not night time yet, the outdoors was getting colder. But he couldn't go back. If he went back home, he would have to face him...
At the same time he put his phone away, raindrops fell from the sky. Slow at first, the raindrops began to fall harder. Eventually, the ground was wet, along with the upper half of his clothes.
Who cares? Let the rain come.
"Lucas."
Ignore him, the distraught boy desperately told himself. Despite his thoughts, he couldn't help but to break into tears for another time. Lucas turned around to look at his lover, who stood a yard away or so. Tossed brown hair, olive skin, and hazel eyes were too recognizable. Even in the rain, it was obvious that this was Ethan.
"What are you doing here," Lucas hiked. "Go away. I don't want to see you."
"I'm sorry. You can be mad at me all you want. Just please, do it at home."
Reaching up, Lucas rubbed the wet pools under his eyes. His gaze turned down, his voice remaining mute- giving no answer.
He didn't want to go home. He wanted to be alone. How did Ethan find him so soon anyway? After...it happened, he took off. He didn't tell anyone where he went. Unless...
Lucas's hand moved to his pocket, where his fingers dug around for an answer. He pulled out a small disk, with a glowing red light on the end.
"So you really can't trust me with anything," Lucas whispered.
Tossing the tracking device away, he stood up and began to walk across the street. He heard footsteps follow, and a hand grip his arm. Feeling it there, Lucas didn't look at Ethan. His eyes remained on the drenched cement walkway.
"I do trust you! That's not why I put it there."
"Your friend already told me you thought I was cheating on you. Don't make this more complex than it is."
Ethan's fists balled up, resulting in a suddenly tighter grip. With the intentions of shoving him away, Lucas turned around. But the moment he did, he met with angered eyes.
"He was lying! I didn't think you were cheating on me, and I never thought for a second that you couldn't be trusted! I worry about you, okay?! I worry that you won't return, I worry that someone will snatch you off the sidewalk; I worry. I worry that I'll never see you again, Lucas! I worry a lot."
So he thought tracking his every move would be for the best? That doesn't make anything much better. It might help his case somewhat, but it doesn't change his actions. He should trust him enough to come back home safely; to be faithful, and to not get into trouble.
"You worry too much," Lucas murmured.
"I know. I'm sorry, but I do." Ethan's grip moved to Lucas's shoulder. It was a gentle grip, different from his previous urgent grasp. "Let me take you back to the house. You'll get sick out in the rain."
"I'll be fine."
Ethan's hands rode up to Lucas's face. His hands softly set on either side of his jaw, his hazel eyes boring into the shorter boy's orbs. For a while, things remained like this as the rain continued. Finally, a gentle and warm tone spilled from the taller boy.
"But I won't be fine."
There was no time to argue or insult. Before it could happen, Ethan's lips dipped down to capture Lucas's in a passionate lock. The rain made their lips wet and cold, but their warm tongues chased the coldness away.
Having felt this type of emotion before, Lucas started to tear up. His lips trembled against Ethan's, before attempting a kiss back. Droplets of rain washed away the salty tears on his face, making it seem pointless to cry. Though that much was clear, Lucas had always been an emotional mess. That's why he and Ethan were such a good match. They balanced each other out.
Parting away from Lucas, Ethan kissed his left eye gingerly. He felt the warmth of tears, and kissed the other as well.
"Okay," Lucas said. "I-I want to go home. Take me home. P-please, Ethan."
The other boy wordlessly wrapped an arm around Lucas, bringing him to his side lovingly. Leading him back across the street, the two began to hike down the road. A car was awaiting them; a site both people were thankful to see.
