A Monster's Return

Prologue: Randall

Sully's grip on my neck tightens, as Mike opens a wooden door. "Alright come on! Chuck him come on!", Mike taunts.

Smiling Sully starts to swing me forward and backwards, like a battering ram. "No, no, please no!", I shriek as I try to pry myself from

his grip.

Then Sully releases me and I hurtle toward the door. I scream as I fly through the air and into the human world. "And he is outta here!", I hear Mike yell as he slams the door closed.

Terrified, I pull my self up from the floor, and run toward the door. I open it to reveal a closet, I've been banished. "There's gotta be another way back into the monster world!", I think to myself.

I crawl out of the room and into the next, all of the sudden I hear a voice,"Momma! Another gator got in the house!" I look over to see a little boy pointing his finger at me.

"Another gator! Gimme that shovel!" An older woman cries as she grabs the shovel and approaches me. "Come here!", she yells as she repeatly hits me with it.

I cry out in pain and turn myself invisible. She frantically starts to swing at the ground. My head throbs from her other blows.

She hits the ground again, this time striking my back. My invisibility fails and I'm revealed again. I scramble to my feet and run for the open window.

The old woman starts to fumble with something on the counter. I try to crawl out the window. I hear a whizzing noise. And a thud on the wall, she threw a knife. I exhale relief that it didn't hit me, and force myself out the window.

Thank goodness it's a mobile home and I only fell 2 feet. The old woman pokes her head out the window. I press myself up against the metal house.

A cold feeling rushes throughout my body. Was it because of the cold metal surrounding the home? No, the fear of her seeing me under the window? No, it was because reality had just set in. I lost my job at Monsters Inc. and now I'm trapped in the human world.

My name is Randall Boggs and I've been banished.

Chapter 1: The Banished Life

It's been a week since I've been banished. It's been hard, trying to hide from humans.

"How did they do it?! Mike and Sully were both banished, twice actually?!?!? How did they get back?!", my head throbs from all these questions.

I climb to the top of a pine tree hoping to get some sleep. And then it hits me! Sully appeared in the factory so he must have gone through a door when someone was scaring!

"Of course now it all makes sense!", I say quietly. I look up, it's almost dark out. I need to find a house now!

I climb down the tree and scramble across the road. Before a car comes by and spotted by a human.

I frantically look around, nothing! I hear a low rumble, it's a huge truck coming down the highway. I run as fast as I can to jump onto the back of the semi. I grab a bar and pull myself on to the back of fast moving vehicle. My shoulder hurts from the pressure.

The wind is blowing so hard I can barely see but something catches my attention ! A small house on a hill with a couple others along side it, but that one house catches my eye, it has a small playground in its back yard, which means they have children.

I'm about to step off the truck when I realize how fast the car is moving. The house will be home soon so I have to jump. I hurtle myself off the semi and onto the curb.

Pain spreads through my body as I fly like a rag doll onto the rough surface. I sit up and pain shoots through my arm, I must have landed on it. "Great just what I need!", I mutter. I dust myself off and make a b-line to the house. Staying low to the ground to avoid attention I might draw.
