Monster
Tears fall onto the wheel as you drive. Although you're driving, you're running, running from everything because there is no other option. You can't take the way his deep brown eyes turned black and comatose. How the tenderness to his touch affected you, the feeling only he could give you. It was all slipping away into the crepuscule you were leaving behind. The tears come harder now and are falling at the same pace as the rain drops streaming down your window. You know what he did, even though it could never be forgotten, you would've deep down forgiven him. You're too in love to not. As you drive on you remember the events from about ten minutes ago.
You sunk down the wall, tears rolling down your face silently. Shattered glass lay scattered around you and the floor near his feet. Panting slightly, he stood there hunched staring at the floor not making eye contact. You know he would never hurt you. But this sudden outburst of anger resulted with both of you lost for words. Too petrified to even breathe, you tried your hardest to sink into the wall and disappear. He fell to the floor, you edged your way up the wall slightly until you were half standing. Your nose wasn't the only thing that was broken, your heart was so shattered that it was virtually nonexistent. "Say something...SAY SOMETHING!", his voice bellowed as he faced the floor, not even lifting his head. "Anything." He exhaled. You began to shake and couldn't think straight. "Tell me that's it. Tell me you hate me and never want to see me as long as you live, that I deserve nothing like the mutt I am. Tell it to me."
He rendered you silent once again. You could not tell him these things, no matter how much you tried to tell yourself he was right, you fought with every ounce not to take him in your arms.You ran out the door and jogged to your car, slamming the door, and driving off as quickly as possible. Tears blurring your vision as you drove into the rainy night.
HIS POV
I could feel a stab in my heart to the extent where I couldn't breathe or move anymore. I was a monster. I tilted my eyes up just enough to see a folded piece of paper lying amongst the ruins and dust that was once a wall. I crawled across the broken window and read it;
"I know. I've known for months, but I'm so in love with you I fooled myself into believing that it wasn't true and you'd never hurt me. I know you never meant to, but I also know that you know about me. How could you do this, all I've been through? The promises you made to me were thin and meaningless. You're the only one who pulled me through, but you're also the reason I slipped right back in again. Now I'm saving myself from ever having to go through this again. I've given up. Goodbye love. Forever. X"
I knew what this really meant. I know I should go, but would she want me to? 'You're a monster! Get away from me!' , the voices echoed through my head again. I slowly reached up for the cutlery drawer. Then, through all the darkness one shaky voice broke through. If I was going to die I wanted to hear her voice one last time. I replayed the last voicemail for at least 20 minutes, soaking in every detail of her voice, telling me how she's doesn't know if she can ever forgive me. This was months ago, what have I put her through? I'm wasting time.
HER POV
No longer paying attention to the road your mind wanders to the ocean outside your window. Recalling all the outings you had with your mother before the accident, and your father after that, grieving, in the spot that ended her life. Your father had been the last string of happiness to hold onto, once he left you too, you had nothing left to live for. That's the whole reason you ended up in this mess. He was your saving grace who left you just like them. You head straight for the look out. How could this happen? The song your mother used to sing is on the radio. And suddenly the ocean comes into view out of your windscreen and you're not looking back. You're going to see them again.
HIS POV
You feel the slightest spark of hopefulness. You knew she wouldn't forgive you but you'd hear her voice again then you could leave in peace. Something is telling you she's gone to the ocean. She loved it there.
Parking the car your worst nightmares are confirmed. She's tried, her car is smashed into the fence and the front is hanging over the edge. You sprint to the scene, wrenching the door open just as the cops arrive.
Her head in your lap. "Come on, come on, anything!" you urge her to consciousness, failing. "I'm sorry that I couldn't get to you.", tears flowing like rivers onto her crimson streaked features, like the colour of her favourite flower."NO! I WON'T LEAVE HER!"
"Sir, you're going to have- "
"NO! LET! ME! GO!" you scream at the officer. They leave you be for the moment, until finally they result to brute force to remove you form the scene. You latch on to one of the crew, sobbing violently.
Fighting against them was hopeless you knew, but you couldn't let them take her away. Giving up what little strength you have left you collapse beside her and break down.
