Tyler's POV
"Josh. Josh. Fucking hell Josh its 12pm and my mom's going to be here at 2 can you get out of the goddamn bed!" Tyler exclaimed, almost pushing his boyfriend out of the bed.
"Okay, okay fine. Just give me five minutes," Josh replied, groaning.
Tyler sighed, pulling the cover off of Josh's half-asleep body. He instantly curled up into a ball, trying to make up for the lost warmth. "Nope. Get out, Josh. If I give you 5 minutes it'll be at least 30 until you actually get up. Please just come help me. I can't find my bra and god knows what my mom will say if she turns up and I'm wearing a binder and look like a guy."
Josh sighed, sitting up and pulling Tyler into his chest. "You should just tell her. Its been years, Ty. I can see how uncomfortable you get when she refers to you by your birth name, and I always feel so fucking guilty talking about you as though you're female around her."
"Bu-"
"No. Look, I know you don't want to lose her, or whatever, but she's your mom. Can she really just kick you out of her life because your her son, not her daughter? You can't go forever without telling her, baby. What if in the future I decide I want to marry you, and she's coming and you still haven't told her. What, are you gonna have to wear a fucking dress to make her happy?" Josh stops, closing his eyes and letting out a breath.
"You- you want to marry me?" Tyler said, wide eyed.
Josh looked at his nervous state and replied hurriedly. "Well, I mean, in the future maybe, yeah. But, like, if- if you don't want to then that's fine, I mean, I'd fully understand," Josh stuttered out nervously.
Tyler lips curled up slightly, and he snuggled into his boyfriend further. "I'd love to marry you. Well, in the future obviously." Josh smiled and held his boyfriend to him, until Tyler remembered that they needed to get ready. They shared a shower because, you know, gotta be economical and save the polar bears or whatever, right? After getting dressed, Tyler sat nervously awaiting his mother's visit with Josh next to him, uttering encouragements and complements that seemed to pass straight over Tyler's head in his anxious state.

There was a loud knock on the door, pulling Tyler out of his trance. Josh instantly set off to the kitchen, using the excuse of making tea but really just to give Tyler and his mom some room.
As soon as Tyler opened the door he was engulfed in a hug.
"Taylor! Its been so long! How are you sweety?" He cringed at the mention of his birth name. "Oh and how's Josh? Did he get that job at the music store? He seemed really excited about it," the instant bombarding of questions freaked him out a bit. He knew she only meant well, but it was a bit patronising and the slightest of things were stressing him out at the time. He really couldn't deal with his mother sometimes.
"Hi mom. Yeah I'm good, so's Josh. I'm not sure if he got the job, we haven't heard back yet," he listed out the answers monotonously, trying to prevent himself from crying at the thought that in a few minutes, his mom might never want to talk to him again.
"Why are you wearing boys clothes again Tay? With your short hair and everything people might think you're a dyke. Don't you want to look pretty? It wouldn't hurt to wear makeup and a dress every now and then dear."
"Actually, I need to talk to you about something. About that," a look of worry blanketed over her face.
"Please tell me you're not queer, darling. What about Josh? Why are you dating him if you're gay?"
"Um. I'm not a lesbian mom. But I am gay. I - look, can we just go through to the lounge and talk about it there, with Josh?" Tyler asked, needing desperately for his boyfriend to help him out with this. She nodded and followed him through, taking a seat on the sofa just as Josh walked through.
"Josh? Tay? What's going on?" She asked, looking worried.
"I - uh, ok um. I. Fuck. I," Tyler paused, taking a deep breath and digging his nails into his skin. "Josh, uh, can you please - you know -"
"Sure thing baby. Mrs. Joseph, do you know the meaning of the word transgender?" Her face paled, and she nodded slightly. "Well, this is your son, Tyler. He didn't want to change his name drastically, and Tyler seemed to stick." She swallowed loudly.
"Um - ok. Ok uh, do - does your father know?" Josh looked at Tyler, asking with his eyes if he should answer. Tyler just shook his head, then replied in a shaky voice.
"No, no only Zack knows from our family."
"Ok. I - uh, I think I'm going to leave. Process this and what not. I don't - I don't really, uh, understand this, necessarily. But I, um, I don't hate you, or anything. So yeah. I'm going to head off. I'll see you soon, I guess."
Tyler's face went blank as his mother left the room. Josh opened his mouth to say something, but Tyler had already begun to leave the room, so Josh stopped and allowed Tyler to go and calm down by himself. He knew from experience that it was worse when he tried to help. So he sat, preparing himself for the inevitable.
It started off like always. Tyler sat at his piano, crying gently. This would slowly turn into a sob, deteriorating until he was in hysterics, shaking uncontrollably and unable to breath. His boyfriend had moved to the hallway, standing outside of their bedroom, debating whether or not it would be worth going in. In the end, he entered, allowing his boyfriend to collapse into his arms. He thrashed violently in Josh's arms; punching, kicking, screaming, whatever he could do until it all became too much. He was exhausted, both physically and mentally. He stumbled along as Josh guided him to their bed, sitting quietly on top of the covers as Josh left the room for a moment.
He heard the front door close, his boyfriend having left the house, and open again around 5 minutes later. Josh walked back into the room and saw Tyler, having not moved from where he was when Josh had left. Without a word, Josh placed the hot chocolate he had just bought into his boyfriends hand, moving the covers over him and taking a place beside him. No words were spoken. None were needed. They just finished their drinks, lay down and fell asleep.
"It'll all be fine tomorrow."
