Attacked.

This is a fiction story. This did not actually happen.

You, Mateus ward (boyfriend), your family and Mateus's family go to the beach for the day since it is Mateus's weekend off and he doesn't get many. 6 months after your one year anniversary.

Mateus's POV

Today I get to hang out with my girl friend for the entire day at Coney Island, Brooklyn. It's been a while since we have been able to do this. My family is here and so is hers. (Y/n) looks gorgeous in her floral aqua bikini. I'm wearing blue and black stripy board-shorts. Our families decide to stay on the beach while (y/n) and I walk down to the water. When our feet touch the water, she makes a run for it, towards the deeper water. I run after her. In waist deep water, I lightly tackle her and turn before we hit the water so we end up facing the beach. She screams and laughs. I kiss her cheek. We get up. We wade in the water. Talking and splashing water around and at each other.

(Y/n) POV

Having a great time with Mateus and his family. We all get along really well. Mateus and I are splashing water and having a nice time. I walk around in the water a little when suddenly I hear and feel water being thrown in the air. Something smashes into my right shoulder, pushing me into the water face first, on my stomach. There was no pain. At least for a few seconds. I surface for seconds and take a gulp of air. I hear Screaming from people around me. I hear Mateus screaming out to the life guards. I can't see any thing, the water is being tossed around. I get pulled under again. I open my eyes I see nothing but I do feel something hitting the side of my head, over and over. I turn my head, I stare at what I make out to be a shark, it smacks into my face, I think I get a blood nose (I think). I see red water. I didn't know what to think , I felt like I was in a dream. The shark rolled around. Flipping me onto my back. It releases my shoulder only to latch onto my right hip and some how my left calf was pinned to my back stopping it's jaw from tearing through my body. This time I feel pain. I punched the shark over and over, in its eyes, on its nose where I could. I surface and I scream in pain. I can see the water turning red around me. I feel... Like... This was it. I'm done for. Then the shark lets go of me and swims away. Fast. Out to sea. I try to move but I just can't. I get pulled up out of the water. The first person I see is Mateus. I'm being lifted by 3 life guards, and Mateus. I'm carried out onto the beach and placed on the sand. Mateus's face is red around his eyes. He is crying. A life guard tells him to step back... As the life guards perform CPR, my vision blurs. It feels like hours had gone when the ambulance arrive. I'm put on a stretcher and wheeled up to the ambulance. Mateus holds my hand until mum comes up to me, I see her lips moving but I can't make out what she is saying, it's to muffled.

Mateus's POV

(Y/n) and her mum get into the ambulance and it drives off to Coney Island hospital. The rest of her family drives after the ambulance. I was having trouble getting though my head what just happened. I press my hands on my temples then though my hair, moving one hand to my hip while the other holds onto my hair. I start to hyperventilate. I put my hands on my knees. Tears run down my face. Mum comes over to comfort me. It doesn't really help.

"Baby... It's going to be okay, she will be okay. But we really should go" she looks around "we have company" I look around to see heaps of paparazzi and more coming. There was a big limp in my throat. I nod. She wraps a arm around me and we walk off the beach. We're swarmed by paparazzi. We get into our car as fast as we can and drive away.

(Y/n)'s POV

Mum was holding my hand while one of the ambulance men attended to my wounds. He applies pressure to my shoulder would, as it is the worst. I moved in and out of consciousness. I started to have trouble breathing. The doors at the back of the vehicle open. The stretcher is pulled out and I'm pushed through double door into a... Green? Hallway. I hear people talking. I still can't make out what their saying. I'm rushed into a large busy room. Some doctors or... nurses... I can't tell. I hear more talking then the doctors take over. I'm moved into a small room. Some sort of mask thing is put on my face. It helps me breathe better but I smell something peculiar in the mask. It slowly became dark as I lose consciousness.

Mateus's POV

We made it to the hospital, mum parked the the car. I get out and run around the front of the car to the entrance of the hospital. I run up to the front desk.

"A girl.." I say out of breath "I'm here for... a girl who was attacked By a shark..! Where is she?!" The lady behind the desk looked startled but showed me the way. We end up in the emergency room. I look through doors and see (y/n). Tears start to fall down my cheeks again. We are told to stay out and are again escorted to a empty waiting room.

"We'll come and tell you when we are done" the doctor says and closes the door. It was silent. Mum held me tight in her arms but it still doesn't help. I break the silence saying what I have been thinking since she was brought onto the beach.

"This is my fault..." My mother looks at me

"What? No of corse not honey"

"Yes it is!" I push her away "this is all my fault!" I scream. I walk over to the wall, resting my head on it, placing my arm over my head and burst into tears. "My fault! My fault...". I slide into a chair, not letting anyone comfort or even touch me. 2 or so hours later the doctor says 'she is being moved to a new room, she is not conscious but you can go in and she her'. I rush out of the room and follow the doctor into the elector going to the 2nd floor then make a couple turns.

"This is it, I'll be back soon" he (the doctor) opens the door. As I walk past him I nod and say thank you. I walk in, her family looks up at us. Their eyes are puffy and red. (Y/n) is in a single bed with blue sheets, she has a needle in her bitten-shoulder hand, it's attached to a pint of blood. I walk up to (y/n) and sit next to her bed, on the side of her unharmed arm. I place my hand over hers and rub her hand with my thumb. Tears rush down my face. I rest my head on the edge of the bed, still holding her hand.

The doctor comes back an hour later and explains a little of what happened. She has 20 stitches in her foot-ankle, 76 in her thigh-hip and 89 in her shoulder. That sounds like WAY too much but if that's how much she needs, I'm not complaining. She lost a lot of blood and it will be a while before she is out.

We have to leave. (Y/N) still hasn't woken up, Her mother will stay with her(each night). I kiss her forehead and we leave the hospital.

That night;

That night I had trouble sleeping and when I did I would dream about today and if things had turned for the worst then wake up freaked out.

The next day;

We come back to the hospital after lunch. Her mum told us she was awake for a hour. It turns out that 2 fragments of shark teeth were found in her bites, it's been classified as bull shark teeth. The bull shark was 7-8 feet long or so.

Her mum told me that she and her family have and interview with some magazine to talk about what happened in a couple days so I will have to be with her for the day. It'll be nice.

The day of the interview;

I pick up a 'bunch of flowers' that we're colourful and bright and head down to the hospital. When I get to her room and walk in, a doctor was in there changing some stuff around, not sure what but he was.

"I'm finishing up now, just a second" the doctor says as he attaches a new pint of blood to her needle. The doctor smiles at me. We can visit when ever and she will be able to leave in about one month.

Each day I visit. Giving her flowers or watering them. Kissing her fore head and holding her had. For a month.

This is something that has never happened... At least in shallow water...
