Eric exhaled as Will and I both coughed hiding our laughs, his mood doing a one eighty, proof when he said “ Let's just go okay the reservations are for eight.” I walked out first as Will followed them and I held the limo door for them, Lucy slid in first then Eric paused saying under his breath “Swear her hair should be blonde.” making me laugh softly and he chuckled low touching my hand gently with his fingers that held the door before he slid in. Will got in the other side as I closed the door then I sat up front by the driver and listened to them talking while we headed to the Artisan Bistro in the Ritz Carlton hotel. Will and I followed them into the restaurant as Will stood at the back while I took front position, and of course people turned watching us with Eric and Lucy, whispering amongst themselves seeing bodyguards with someone in their town. I have to admit with Will and I dressed in suits, dark sunglasses on even at night which we could still see fine through, our earpieces slightly oblivious if you really looked, we always drew stares and whispers.
The looks and whispers never faze us as we stand tall and exude that ominous power that goes with our positions, Eric waited for Lucy to sit then he took the seat facing me, his back to Will and I smirked knowing why he does this, his slight insecurities about his safety since the park incident. If he can see me he feels better and I saw his whole body relax after he made eye contact even though he couldn't see my eyes he knew when I acknowledged him with a nod. I zoned out of their conversation coming from Will's mic as I scanned the people making sure all is quiet then shifted to a more comfortable stance, spreading my feet slightly part. When we heard a muffled crash sound, I noticed Eric tense from the corner of my eye and looked to see the waiter had dropped a dish a few tables away, I turned towards him as he looked at me, I nodded and he let out a low breath then turned back listening again to Lucy's mindless ramblings about the reunion coming up. Will coughed low saying “ He's a bit jumpy tonight partner.” I turned to Will saying low so only the mic would pick it up and not the people at any table close to me answering “ Guess he's learning, one attempt then Gina partner, we see it every time once they get that taste of reality.” Will nodded as we both went silent, the waiter brought their food and things remained calm for the rest of the dinner, Eric telling Lucy that they would be going to the Roxy for drinks and dancing after they finished making her do that annoying girly giggle as she squealed. Will sighed and so did I, both of us knowing crowds in a bar with loud music is the true test on our nerves, it puts us on high alert to every movement, controlled chaos is a damn oxymoron, which usually gets out of hand fast.
We understand that people still need to lead their normal lives, just wish some days we didn't have to work so hard to earn our pay. But no one gets a perfect job where its all champagne and roses, so we deal and do our best with what we get. When dinner was done, Will cleared his throat making me turn seeing Eric and Lucy stand so I stood straight, waited for them to get close then turned walking in front of them as Will followed. Lucy stopped causing us all to stop when she started talking to a couple sitting at a table, then Eric placed his hand on her back excusing them and continued forward as I led them out the door to the waiting limo. Opening the door Lucy smiled saying “ Must suck having your job, waiting on us hand and foot, door person, can't enjoy the things around you.” I answered with a flat tone “ Not a problem miss, doing my job keeping Mr. Colby alive and safe is my only objective.” She sneered at me and replied “ As long as you remember your place.” I nodded to her when Eric not happy said “ Lucy stop right now, these two aren't lowly servants, they are highly trained professionals, I'm proud and appreciative for the job they do for me.” I exhaled nodding to Eric as he briefly let his hand touch mine then he smiled to me touching my shoulder before he slid in the limo by Lucy and I shut the door whispering “ Finally.” When I got in the front Will smirked at me in the rear view mirror, he sat by the door opposite of Eric with Lucy in between them, and I shrugged chuckling. Lucy turned to Will asking “ So your a handsome guy, when do you get time for yourself?” Will politely answer “ Thank you miss, on my days off.” Eric and I raised an eye brow as Lucy surprised us paying Will attention when she kept asking him questions, he responded in minimal answers still polite each time until Eric realized Will's uneasiness, so cutting in the conversation “ Lucy let the man be, he has a life and wants his privacy so quit drilling him.” Will let out a noticeable breath and I bit my lip as he shook his head and I smirked to him in the mirror, Eric exhaled out and Lucy sighed.
