I whined in frustration as I tried to undo the seemingly indestructabe binding around my trembling hands.
I whimpered as the cord bit into my skin, setting free a trail of warm, thick blood that cascaded down my now numb hands, pooling in my palms.
I gave up, finally, as the floorboards in the room next door creaked.
Then began the footsteps.
The simple thuds that seemed to knock a beat out of my heart with each one.
THUD. My heart was racing.
THUD. My breathing is shallow and shaky.
THUD. The blood in my veins is seeming just to dry up.
THUD.
THUD.
THUD.
And then it stopped.
Although my eyes were tied shut, I could feel that the threat was no longer. I now felt a new presence however.
A presence all too familiar yet one I could never really seem to get close enough to.
My faceless angel. The centre of all my dreams; The light in the good, my saviour in the bad and the occasional eccentric in the weird ones too.
Nevertheless, he was always there. Ever since the Dark Day, but that's a story for another time.
Now, it was time to wake up.
