Ten years ago...
I backed up slowly, my whole body trembling. The boys at my school tease me daily, but now I'm out of school, cornered in an alley cluthing Alice in Wonderland (the book) to my chest.
"L-leave me alone." They laughed, advancing further. The cold stone pressed into my sweat soaked back, making the fear in my throat tighten. "Help." My voice was soft and fearful.
Suddenly, a shadow swoops down, clawing at the boys hair. I watch in wonder as they try and fail to shoo the shadow away. Eventually, they run off and the shadow perches on a nerby trash can, I smile once I recognize it.
"Pearly!" She screeches joyfully. I dig through my backpack until I find a leather hawk glove. "Come on, lets go home." She screeches againbefore perching on my gloved hand.
Laughing slightly, I placed a kiss on the side of her head and joyfully skipped home.
