Curiosity plays on the girls face, and a smile comes to her lips, though the smile seems more mocking then friendly.
"Well, hello." The girl says to me, standing up from a red cushion of a small chair.
She was dressed in a tank top, a mini skirt with fishnet leggings, and a pair of combat boots. All pitch black, just like her hair which falls to just below her shoulders. Her eyes are a piercing green colour, and her cheekbones are quite defined which brings together her whole badass look I'm sure she was going for.
I stay silent, which wasn't odd for me. I didn't talk very much, at least not unless I trust a person. I just study her more as she looks at me with a teasing grin.
"Quiet, aren't we?" She asks, her tone mocking. "How could they think you had a chance at winning?" She asks with a laugh, her voice clearly making the 'you' stand out.
She starts to walk over to me and my back presses harder against the wooden door behind me. My breath catches slightly, as I watch her walk forwards, towards me.
"Hey," She says when she reaches me and sticks out a hand for me to shake. "I'm Aria." She says and waits for me to shake her hand.
I slowly lift my hand to hers and shake it, still a little confused as to the whole situation. I don't tell her my name. In fact, I don't say anything at all.
The girl I now know as Aria sighs and shakes her head. "Okay blank, nice to meet you." She says to me, her tone in a joking manor.
I look down for a second, then look back up at her, finally deciding to talk. "Elena." I tell her quickly.
"Elena." She says then nods. "And how did you end up here, Elena?"
I freeze a little. My memories were still so patchy. There were only a few I could remember. Should I remember how I got here? I didn't know. I bite my lip a little and look down at the tile floor of what must have been a bathroom.
Aria cocks her head to get a better view of me. "Are you okay?" She asks me, her tone unreadable.
I don't say anything, just try to pull some memories back. They don't come. "Um... I-I don't know." I finally say.
"You mean you don't remember? Anything? Where you were before you got here? Who you were with? Why you were there? Nothing?" She asks, obviously not believing me.
I nod slightly, not wanting to say anything more, but also wishing she would trust me.
"Well, in that case we might want to get out here and get started. Who knows what this game with uncover." Aria says and then puts her hand on the door knob behind me, in wait for me to move out of the way.
"We?" I ask her, could she actually want to team with a skittish person like me?
"If you want, I mean. Team up?" She asks me, her expression said only that it was for survival, but there was something in the way she looked at me that told me the reason was different then what she wanted me to believe.
I think for a second and, like always, start to fiddle with whatever I can, this time it was the silver key around my neck, though as soon realize I start to do that and I stop. I didn't want to seem weak in front of her. Especially since she was offering me a team.
Thoughts run through my head quickly. Did I want to team up with her? She seemed strong, brave and more or less intelligent. She could be helpful in this... game? But did I want to be tied down. Build a relationship that will end in either my, or her death. Maybe even both of our deaths. Though, I can't exactly defend myself, and though I don't expect her to risk her own life for me, she might be helpful if I get attacked by anyone.
After weighing the pros and cons of the option, I nod slightly to Aria and move out of the way of the door. "Let's do this." I say to her, though it doesn't come out as confident as I wanted it to.
She opens the door and we both look out into the hallway. It's empty, for now. We both have the common sense to move as quietly as we can through the dimly lit, white hallway.
"What's you're clue?" I ask her, my voice is normally quiet, but it was even more so right now so we wouldn't have attention drawn to ourselves.
"Clue?" She looks over at me confused. "What clue?"
"The announcement said there were clues, I assumed that was what was drawn on the wall in the room I was in." I explain to her.
"Oh, I wasn't exactly paying too much attention to that." She tells me, and I sigh.
"Whatever, we'll just follow my clue then. I'm sure they all lead us to the same place. Just look for an old, grandfather clock." I tell her, a little bit annoyed at the lack of attention she paid at such an important thing.
Aria nods at me, her face didn't show that she was sorry, but I could feel it lingering in the air. I nod back at her and then start to examine the pictures lined hallway for a grandfather clock. It doesn't seem like too hard a task.
