When I woke up the next morning I almost forgot where she was, but then the memories flooded back. I was awoken by the sound of Emily crying.

“Its ok sweetie, I’m here. Jessica picked Emily up and rocked her back and forth, until she stopped crying. Oh my, it was already 9:15; I had slept in. I had just been so exhausted last night.

“Are you awake?” came a voice from the other side of the door.

“Yes I am, Jordan; you can come in if you want.”

He came in with Emily’s milk bottle and a plate of delicious ham, bacon, and eggs, and Orange juice; on a tray. “I got Emily’s bottle while you were asleep and filled it up with warm milk and I brought some breakfast for you to, is it enough?” he asked me with his usual heartstopping smile and trusting eyes that made you just want to stare in them forever.

“Totally is more than enough Jordan!” I replied still in a daze.

He handed the plate of food to me r “Here, you eat and I’ll feed the milk to our baby angel here; I’ve already had my breakfast, Okay?”

“Ok, thank you so much again.” I was really hungry since I hadn't really had anything to eat yesterday.

I said a quick prayer for my food and for keeping me safe, with Jordan and started eating.

I had known Jordan since I was three and he was 4 and a  half. We had been BEST FRIENDS from the start. Anytime any boy or girl would tease her or try to hurt me, he would back me up to them and give them the stuff. He was really a friend that I couldn't live without.

“So tell me, did you sleep well last night?” he asked me.

“Sure did, I’m even surprise I woke up so late.”

“What about you?” she asked with her mouth full.

“I slept pretty well, but I have been thinking, what are you going to do next?, you know that you can’t stay here in SECRET forever, my family could get in big trouble for this!”

“I know, the thought has been going in and out of my mind, but I’m getting there.” “I was thinking that I might take the adventure of travelling to The States since here in Italy it's wild with chaos!”

“But how would you pay for the tickets for both you and Emily? You can’t possibly afford them, can you?” He shot back with a serious glare.

“Well, I sort of have a secret.” While I was still living in the depths of despair at home I was saving up money for an emergency and this is an emergency, don’t you think?”

“Well yes, but how did you earn the money?”

“Every day from 2:00 till 6:00 I worked at a pet shop in Optomes Ville. I worked with a kind middle-aged woman who gave me 10.00 Euro a day, for I had told her what circumstances I was in. I worked there for 2 years and 3 days with no absences and then had to start to help with the baby more, since my parents didn’t have time. By then I had earned my wages of 7330 Euro! I haven’t spent one penny of my emergency money yet”, I finished as I took my last sip of orange juice. Emily also gurgled; full from her warm milk, as Jordan put her in her cradle along with a little old build-a-bear to play with.

“Wow, why didn’t you tell me any of this? You have plenty of money to buy tickets, but where would you go? Do you know anyone there personally?”

“Yeah, one girl name Susan lives there, she used to be my classmate, but then she went back to New York in a place called Keira Town and started to work at a buisness building there as a typewriter. I think I still have her American phone number, let me try to contact her.”

‘Here’s my cell phone. You call Susan while I go see what how much tickets cost on the internet, okay Jess?’

‘Okay, thanks.’

I laid Emily carefully in her crib. And I got my diary out, where I had put Susan’s phone number. I accurately dialed the numbers ‘212-356-7152’.

The phone rang and rang and nobody answered. She was about to hang up, when a sweet voice answered, ‘Hello, Susanna Myres speaking…….’

‘Hello this is Jessica from Milan, do you remember me Suzie?’
